This is Aspect Deletion
"The vibrant and emotional energy of Aspect Deletion emerged from the
depths of inner thoughts and desires – a far cry from the
commercialized pop icons of Billboard. The voice behind Aspect Deletion
sought to create a more thorough and realistic musical representation
of life’s afflictions, hence stepping away from more formulaic and
standardized forms of expression. “Aspect Deletion came about largely
from a desire to produce something slower and less formulaic than my
past projects had been,” recalled the artist. Years of piano lessons,
infused with a few years of playing both alto sax and guitar, AD
developed into the symphonic melting pot it is today. “Ironically, a
lot of musical ideas I started coming up with seemed more piano-based,
hence ‘Aspect Deletion.’”
describe AD’s musical approach, inspired by some of the greatest
avant-garde and musically intelligent groups in the scene. “Kayo Dot is
a definite influence, if not for orchestration then for the sheer
emotional power their music possesses… Converge, lyrically, is
untouchable once you contemplate the work as a whole.” Equally, Jesu’s
general aesthetic parallels many of AD’s themes and ideas: “There has
been the inevitable comparison by fans since day one.” Any group or
individual who pushes musical boundaries inspired AD’s work, since that
is ideally what music should do.
critics alike, painting lucid pictures with sound rather than images
and words. Handing the reins over to the listener, Aspect Deletion
gives fans the opportunity to paint their own pictures and come up with
their own interpretations of the music. All tracks off of the debut
album deal with subject material from personal experiences. “I think
it’s hard to put emotion to something which has no relevance. I realize
the term ‘relevance’ has become a sort of industry catch-phrase that
you see on jewel case reviews, but I’m talking about relevance to me,
not anyone else.”
behind the melodies and abstract musical phrases. The culmination of
life experiences and dissatisfaction with mainstream music ignited the
flame which became AD. In the end, it is all about being true to
oneself: emanating reality of mind and heart through instrumentation in
an effort to encourage ultimate truth in the music. Even then, this is
the ultimate challenge: “No instrument can ever fully convey anything…
If someday there is an instrument that can directly convey a person’s
thoughts or mental state to another person, I think it would kill the
listener.”
