X0X is the new B0X. Roland created magical mystical musical madness when they made their rhythm- bass- synth and percussion boxes during the 80s. First out in the X0X series was the 808. An almighty, mighty old drum machine used by Marvin Gaye on Sexual Healing. And later used as a foundation for new music styles like electro, house and techno. This of course is no new info nowadays; the X0XB0XES from Roland have been classic since many years now. But I got a new view on it since I made a little 808 state'ish track called "909 enemies of 101 states", nodding friendly to 808 State: Pacific 202. Roland instrument names used all over like references of coolness. I haven't had all X0X boxes but I've had... the TB-303, the TR-505, the TR-606 and the TR-707. I think I had a 727 as well, for a very very very short time. Like one day or so. I've also had the successor of the 505, the 707 and the 727; the 626. And I've had the SH-101. Many people collect these machines and some guys has got two or three TB-303's. Mad huh! I never got to learn mine; I actually thought it was broken or no good. I didn't know by then. So I sold it for 1/12 of the asking price one or two years later. Bummer. My all time favourite probably is the TR-808. Such a lovely machine. But I dreamed for years about a 909 too. That bass drum is to die for. But recently I heard a magnificient track with beats programmed on the 707! Yes, you heard right. After tons of processing, the 707 can kick some serious Kick as well. Anyhow! That's all for now!
