In 2005 after the unfortunate demise of his previous band Carmen Pariah, Drew Hamley (the ex front man) stepped away from the music scene for some time. But after much boredom and a serious growing need to be creative, he embarked on his new musical creation 'Burning Carousels'. The challenge was set to produce a whole album of material on his own in demo form and later produce the real thing. What was created became known as the album ’One Man Audience’. Currently a collection of 12 demo songs picked from 16 that Drew had initially worked on. Although it started as a solo project, Drew believes that ‘It is inevitable that things will change, and grow over time’. And as time would reveal what was One is now Five. As the early demos of ’One Man Audience’ were put out to test the water, interest in the project quickly snowballed ensnaring a diverse collection of followers. Along the way, previous band members of Carmen Pariah Dave Price (Drums) and Jon James (Bass) expressed their interest within the project and offered their services. Both were snapped up and Jon moved from playing bass to rhythm guitar. Things moved on quietly for a time after that with Drew, Dave and Jon slowly developing the songs on record waiting to see if they could find the right musicians to fill the rest of the band. What happened next could only be described as fate plotting its own course. Drew unexpectedly met his soon to be new lead guitarist John Jones at a random night in a local bar. The quintet was complete when Dave Price ensnared an old friend Tim Jupp to try out for the job on bass. Safe to say, all passed with flying colours. Now the burning Carousels are complete. With the new year almost upon us, the band are working hard to bring to unsuspecting crowds the live performance they’ll never forget. They are also busy writing material together and are working to develop their own unique blend of music to unleash in 2007. What the future holds for this band can only be fulfilling, exciting and well worth the wait.
