Fudgin Eck

i dont know where all my money goes...
ah.
Germany.

seriously, next year the promoters are paying for my bloddy trains. im getting fed up of making loss on live shows' ironicly, the last bastian of a good honist musical profit in this day and age of sneekey riussian MP3 websites.
Im not too shure about dave and or the robot for theese upcomming europe shows. Doing a solo robot show is stressful and really a bit fidgitey, but everything else is expensive, hemmm, robots. I suppose its my debute show in europe i should put some effort in, but re above paragraph about being broke.

well thats my cryptic babble, how are all you?
GOLD!

Bloooooooooeeeoeooeooooo
Im bored at work.
I haven’t had my trig on in a while, so. Have some thinkmass:

With Hindsite the gig was ace.

Infekted Sound seems to have come of age and i am happy to have participated in a gig which seems to have gone down so well, it was billed as 'gig of the year' – and it wasn’t even a promoter wot said that so there was a really greate atmosphere from the outset. The hospiluity at slimes was.. as usual, pritty damn ace. Though i should ask matt to look into getting some food in there, not all artists are pil-heads and i get hungrey. The place smells *BAD* with its new smoking ban. The plumbing in the toilets is questionable at the best of times... pooo. Anyway.

I got in early and set up the robots and did some early tests on the bleeps. Everything went swimingley. Until there was an audience, also, getting changed in a cardbored box barley big enough for me to turn around in is not getting any easier. The audience seemed to spend quite a lot of time admiring the robot instead of dancing, but once I got my yay's out they seemed to cheer up. Yeah, the new midi intrerface makes playing live a bit of a laurf. I don’t know when my next show is, I guess I need to focus on other things for a while.

Speeking of other things, and to be needlesley obscure for a moment, i had a meeting with a few people last night regarding some future colaberative work, all rather growenup and exciting. Expect at least one big coreline announcement before infest, not that anyone really cares *sob*

This weekend sees me in jillies again,

object                             - mass()

|

v

box                              - volume() - mass()

|                 \

v                  v

Cakebox Toybox - cakeType() - isSpaceShip()

cake box inherites box and object... cakebox.volume() should return the cake boxe's volume. however cakebox.isSpaceShip will be undeclared. a function could be called cakebox[or]toybox.mass() and then thus could calculate the mass of all the objects. polymorphisisism allows the function to 'pass the buck' up the class hierarchy to access a function... ergo. calling box.mass() will get the boxes mass, but assuming there is another child of object called Vegatable with no mass function, it would call the mass() function in the base object class.

Of cource I don’t know how to actually use this information as I still like goto statements. But…. Progress!

Any help, VB.net or OO in general is greatfully received.
retro cartoons

somthing in my head space clicked yesterday, i remembered the existance of a cartoon called 'Dreamstone' which was one of the two most formative media nuggets in my life, i had two videos of dreamstone, both of which had warn to nout be the time i was 10, so i was delighted to find a sizeable chunk of it available on you tube. Now my pritty hard-line stance agenst piracy remains in place, but rare / overpriced / hard to find stuff is pritty much fair game (which i have just lost).
Now previous pokes at the nostalga beast have usually been disappointing, quite a lot of the material from this time involves the same plott modulated slightly every week, and though overbaring plott archs are mostly missing from both of the cartoons im waffeling about this morning dreamstone did gradually reveal its back-story through episodes lie 'day-dreem bubble'
To look at dreamstone in isolation: its super high fantisey. the gandalf-style wizzard character is wonderfully verbose ocasionally using compound words which dont actually exist, i think that rubbed of on me. It also introduced me to complex multi dimentional shapes. the dream-makers abode is a wonderfull example of a multi-planer intra-spacial meta-scaler place, one dimentional doors, portholes, and their wonderfull fusiion to create a totally magical place where the imigination can shape reality. The apex of this was my memory of the rubbihly named 'planet dreamstone' no photos of this exist however its beautiful and misterious cosmic geometry was probably the setting of my initial and strongest reaction to art.
Finally, turns out that the LSO did the sound-track, and you can tell, its ultra-epic

i think if i ever end up being a parent, i would like my children to watch this series, it provides a real and physical link to the section of the brain which cold science has turned off. Now days people are encouraged to sneer at the magical, dismiss it as childish. Dreamstone revels in showing us what this logical and cold approach removes from our life, even an adult must supress a sence of wonder at the beautifully vivid world expressed in this show. I dont know if it has a moral as such. i think it taught me to never loose the ability to be struck with wonder. if a voice says 'thats not possible, how childish!' it should be silenced.

next time i have a few minutes free im gonna talk about Starcom
The other formative seriese
A worring undercrrent in social networking

my trigg profile gets less traffic then my myspace profile.
thats fair enough, myspace is a homogonised monster, everyone has a space.
ill get about 10 friend requests a week on myspace to about 3 on trigg.
but a pattern has emerged with the purpose and source of theese friend requests.

they are all, and i mean ALL bands, or orginisations.

now i know im in a bit of a bad space trying to create music in todays sociaty, i hear twenty somthings describe music as absolutly essential to life. Its not, espically not in the cantralised manner that the recording industry has fed us, music, comes from a band.
In a room of 20 people you can bet at east 18 of them will be in a band, so to say there is any kind of supply and demand balence here is rubbish. I am increadabley fortunate that i have had the ability to break even on a cd release, this is been less to do with good promotion or talent as it has been to do with my own stupidity. none of my peers would ever concider sinking £1000 into a release.

So at this moment in time, in such a saturated market why do we as artists still take the bate from social networking sites?
things like trigg, humblevoice and vrib are massive echo chambres where 10 bands scramble for the attention of one punter, no one is to blaim, but we need to remember that when the whole system just grinds to a halt.... maby 'they' are just concentrating us all into one space to make us easier to destroy...
green things wot i have done today... Also, C appeal

Steve has been away this weekend so i have used the oppertunity to do some work on greening up a few bits and pieces

in reverse chronoligical order:

1) fixed up the 'audio visual rig' so that one swch safley turns off all the counsoles and things, thus the pre/power amp, the intertubes and the (im just tagging along because i get very angrey when im swiched on) digital tuner are the only things in the house which are not 'allways off'

2) Pioleted a 'yellow water' conservation system, could significantly improve the households water economy, if i can ever talk steve into doing it, also the smell in the loo will need adressed and as such, this whole plan may rely on too meny oder chemicals

3) formilised my shopping habbits: i will only be eating from (in order of preference) Beano Whole Foods, Out of this world, Marks and Spencer and Co-Op, Theese companies are very forward about there organic produce (except co-op which is just close, but dose copella apple jooce which is local and yummey)

4) Sorted out a mahoosive pile of recycling, a bit academic as Leeds dosent have much in the way of recycling facilities, but nothing a few long walks wont sort out. Also, put togeher a very neet way to tidy up the detritus of the steves alchaholism which uses the same packageing the goods came in to store and process em for recycling, get your yay on

s'amazin wot you can do with a day off and a vacuum cleaner. init?
speeking of init, could someone tell muh why this seg faults:

// nightmare allocate and declare 52 million short array
short *sample;
if (sample = (short *) calloc(sizeof(header.length), sizeof(short)))
{
;
}
else
{
printf("Out of Memory or scarey memory problems or your computer dosent support maths. \nPlease give up and re-train as a mortgage broker \n");
return(1);
}
// end nightmare

int read = fread(sample, (header.length), 1, wav);
printf("Full audio display starts:\n");

free(sample);

Debussy: Banging. also, part two of my C / C++ sob story

bah!
it looks like new and delete are just fancey versions of malloc and free afterall.. back to square 3 . if any of you happy triggey peeps have an example of how i would use calloc to create an array of shorts please stick it up here.
you see the problem is, every book / guide / forum designed to help with programming requires an intermediate knowlage of the terminaology of programming terms and theory in order to understand it
"void *calloc(size_t nelem, size_t elsize);" is absolute greek tp me, wtf is sizr_t? ohh right "
unction shall allocate unused space for an array of nelem elements each of whose size in bytes is elsize. " ok thats a bit clearer, how do i use it? eh? any clues? is there nuts.
that thus is hy, after near 10 years trying i *still* can do anything other then script.

anyway,
i was stewarding the Endilloon quartet last night and they were shit hot, like really, shit hot. but as ever, im going to rant:
Fucking Mozart, bloddy saccrin music box plinkey plonkey shite. GOOD MORNING PEOPLE! welcome to the 21rst century, we have horsless carrages and space flight, we have massive corruption at all levels of sociaty and democracy is a lie. but through all his we have some form of free speach so please STOP PRETENDING TO LIKE MOZART, Mozart is Bland, really horribally bland. and get this, his music is recursivally nostalgic. Sure it was innovative in the day, but then in the 1800's people listened to it to get all nostalgic about vienna and the renassence over tea and now days people listen to it to get all nostalgic over the 1800's and the concept of tea. Mozart is a sepia photograph of a youngish couple stood outside a tea room in those rediculous full body bathing costumes.
What we have pinned to our psychees as the simlink from 'classical music' exists as a populist blott, a library of joke pieces composed for the whore house or kids opera, none of the magnificence of baroque or the emotional power of everything later, this body of work floats on some bizzare chalk pedistool above all other music in its tradition for no reason at all. No wonder yoof cant be arsed with the western music tradition. it sounds like a bloddy music box.

the bits of the show which wernt mozart were awesome:
a guy called Adés and a piece called Arcadina seemed to be a best of Debussey + Wabern, proper banging stuff.

Debusseys quarted in G minore 10 was the best perfromed work i have herd since Boulex performed at the city de la music. Reall rousing stufff. Debussy seems to be able to get more bang out of a string quartet then he could out of a whole orchestra. im going to have to buy this one as its proper sing-a-long restorative 20th centuary classical rave bleep yay.
Any quartet playing a piece where the composer allowed for a flourish at the end who manage to render the flourish deserve some respect.
any quartet who render said flourish by ending the piece with bows in the air held aloft like a gituar at the end of a manowar concert deserve out respect and awe.
C, C++, and the tale of an error which cant actually exist

so yesterday, i sat down with a compiler and started programming again
im trying to write a bit of DSP, just somthing simple to start with. So i sat down and wrote somthing to peel the file headers of a wav file and dump it into memory, the problem is, if i try and declare a 52 million element array the program segfaults.
but, get this, i swiched to C++ in order to get the new keyword, (after failing to master malloc) and now the basterd thing *still* calls a malloc error even though the word 'malloc' dosent appear anywhere in the source code *gerr* my theory is that because mac is a bit *woooooop* with regard to GCC that its using a wierd simlink to malloc for new under the hood. thats a headache for today at work i guess.
if you know why / how to circumvent this pleeese let me know. I want to get on to the fun maths bit and not have to tit about with the data structuring bit *booo*

oh, heres a thought
hemmm

while freed != 0
declare a 300 element var
freed 300 elements into a var

that could work if i could declare varribals dynamicly, but no language i have worked with so far allowes you to do that, meah.

i hope the visa comes through on time i really do, i so want to see russia and this will probably be my only oppertunity. Damn i hate cutting burocracy close. im going to talk to them mid-late week see if i can find somone helpful, hopefully my steriotype of grumpy buracrats is a construct of the anti-communist films i was force fed as a child. whoop wooop

right, work!
i *started* work on a noise track last night, however what happened next was the groundwork for a 10 minute electroacoustic epic. clicks & bleeps = luv. theres a lot of work to do on it but i shall do it as its fun watching the bits fall into place. Theres no turn arround on it, it may take months to finish, and i need to find somwhere slightly off cycle to upload it, so my fan dosent think iv gone all 'dark ambient / glitch core'

stuff for the forign trip came today, ill get it sorted out today. goodness only knows i need to get a moove on. Visa's suck, everyone should be in europe.
New Track = Free Paris Hilton.

Paris hilton has been the victem of a liberal conspiracey by the hippies in calafornia. They wish to extinguish the light that she brings to the dull grey lives of thouse of you who are not as famous as paris (or me for that matter). If you are at all in support of freedom or democracey it is essential that you listen to this track and sign this patition.
Dont let the Jelous Natzies win!
Free Paris Hilton!

nb: i may be taking the piss

well the weekend was london, a confrence on climate change wich due to us running a few hours late was never atteneded. Insteed i went round the 'city' for lunch with my mate mary and we talkd of londons and things. then me and jack went on a mah000sive ramble round three of the cities, and ended up at among others, westmisnter, buckingham pallace and the palace of lies (westminster)

'that girl' was at subculture, i quite fancey her, she is a bit hawt. i would. i should.

thus is my sunday. i shall now sleep, let me know what you think of the new track.

more blerg then blog.

im dead bored
not for lack of anything to do
just a total lack of any motivation to do it.

i guess i should get on with some coreline stuff
the coreline project dose seem to have levels and bosses and quests but thats where its similarity with a game ends. just becuase things are a bit slack arround CMP alpha-complex dose not meen i can get idel and leave thngs to rot. Music may be a hobby, but its a hobby people like, i have a responcibility to those people to make good choons weather or not the majority of the scene accepts it.
i think the 'free paris hilton stuff may have been too sarcastic. people are starting to give me flack for it...

any social construct is infinate, as it is bound only by the human conshious, which can precieve infinity(though it canno experience it) therefore theres plenty of room for improvment, and there is an ∞ chance that things will look up eventually.*

Got the trig launch party e-mail today, looks like were going mainline, i hope they can attract a few more visitors with some decent advertising. I do actually enjoy updating this thing which is a fine contrast from certin other spaces. Its more fun to use and as such for me, the community element is a bit redundant, ill trype here, i know one or two people i know may read it, Plus the whole experience makes me slightly better at typing eithouhgt ooking at the screen which is good pracvtive foe when my eyes finally give out.

the Edenburg gig was great, got a pritty good reception, made a few people laugh, got a lot of photos taken, hopefully people will be talking about 'that cardboard robot' for meny years to come, and thats exactally the point of a live show, to perk intrest for the querant to look a little deeper, maby buy a cd maby come to the next gig.
the issue with that of-cource is keeping the damn ingenouity up, this shit aint easy. the fact i have done roughlry the same live show twice nowmeans i have to sortout some new IP otherwise people will get fed up fast. I have arought idea about what to do for the next few shows and a whle paragraph of notes on the topic....

*bad science
hail hail the queen of the may.

well the launch of Yum, Noise!
as an intirley online media was met with a resonding 'meh', im not
iverly fussed about this because, well, frankley, it didnt cost me
anytbing to put the tracks up there, this is quite a nice concept as i
could put stuff from the testing/not quite good enough tree's up there
and get 'payed' for them.

7digitals full service is £70somthin, im not sure if thats a one time
payment for a annual / monthley (!) arrangment, but the crux of the
matter is thus: at 99p /track i need to sell 70 downloads to make the
'benchmark' where i actually get payed, now much as meny people will
complain about this and getting ut my own trumpet that i may blow it,
im not actually incapable of breakinf that kind of evin, the issue with
this is the method of promotion, i cant hawlk a downoad at the
nigtclub. and thats the main source of my income,

Also, its sad to say, but i get most of my sales off people who are
drunk and up for a laugh, thats not really much use when a) its not a
round figure price b) im not in direct controll of point of sale.

i suppose there could be another underlying theme here. maby the sucess
of PKMF is down to people wanting to see me do well... now that i have
done well will the support continue? its impossible tyo be subjective
about ones own creative output, i cant rightley tell if coreline is ace
or bobbins, My friends and the people i meet say its good, but they
would, there infornt of me, chrisses first rule of gothodynamics
relates directally to the proximity of the quierent at the time of
questioning .

off to dark city

right. everything is packed... and i meen everything, concidering im a woussey instrimentless electronic musician its really shocking the fct that my live show seems to comprise of all the mass in the universe. it lso dosent help that my kit storage solution is going on a world toor, and this mass of stuff will have to rest in richard / jo's beadroom. im not looking forward to breaking the illusion that coreline is one laptop and a tosser. I also hope there room has at least two infinate dimentions. the plan is 'remain as portable as possible, CRRD-MGN is the largest beast, i should probably adapt her for flat-packing but i dont want to loose any strucure... ah! gaffatape! there are few adhiesive based solutions where your silkey black expance is not welcome!
ill pack a knife and wait til i have the tape in my hand before i start the flat pack. I can see me being inordanitly bussey at service stations today.

other things i need to sort out:
geetar jooce / ninemadens throughput. -> bastard needs to a) work b) be loud
kit storgae solutions which dont involve pissing off richard -> so far £70 in taxies
pre sound check sound check. -> are all the midi mappings right? ffs!

this gig is only 30 minutes, ive played longer, and i know the venue and i know the setup, also no seas have to be crossed to reach edinburg, so it shoudent be a stress, however, co-incodently, its the most important gig i have ever played... so in my head im stressing for no reason and im also not nearly serious enough about the whole thing.
nobodys a winner, which is not the opposite to 'everyone's a winner'

gods have mercey, i think its time to wake the drummer.
A gripe about the misuse of the Beta tag in modern interwebosphere

i remember when beta ment 'buggey and liable to crash every three clicks, also the graphics arnt finished yet so i have used placeholder images of my face and a animated gif of a man at work'

theese days it seems to mean

'not yet elligable for massive corprate sponsership' or somthing, i dont mean to sound leftey. i guess im a bit of a version control purest, like so meny 'computer aided composers' i tend to number my relieses as 'pre alpha' or v0.3 and i have been knowen to stick to the linux kernel 'even = stable, odd = youll be luckey' system.

I think this spate of 'unending beta syndrome' is largley carried by the web 2.0 bug. maby theres ajaxey scriptey stuff i dont understand goin on but it dosent seem likley.
Google, this fair site, humble voice, a few others i cant think of, all offer feature compleet, stable, compatible content to the public... yet they call it beta... why... unless they have misspelled better in which case fair dos, there are plenty of mistakes similar in this very text.

anyway, rant over.
whatever happened to info bursts?
Foh this weekend, fun *will* be had or ill be well angrey.
need to get back to making some music.
summer time, and the livin is hecktic.

my diarey looks like the insane scribbles of a condemed homocidal hamster, and its a Google calender :S mooving into this weekend i have a very very dence few weeks to polish off april and start may with a bang.
Im right at the very edge of plausibility for getting good copies of the EP available for form of hands, not that anyone will be shedding meny tears over that one but it would have been nice (TM) seriously Foh is next weekend and i still have no responce from quality controll at infekte sound about wether they are supporting the relese. i really do not want to drop another deadline, its just not professional.
'the plann' for dark city is in its closing stages i need to get steve to re-write getar juce and load in a choped up amen break, CRRD2 is looking good, the chassis is in place just need to fit the hydrolics and lower the margin for error/explosion. but that *all* needs to happen this weekend.
the masters is going to hell, really i havent typed a word to it all week. ive been ill is no longer an excuse i have become lazey and i need to kick myself until i stop. How can people live camley letting deadlines slide past them, i feel like a worthless piece of crap. its that fucking job, its eating my lust for life.

ace night last night

disphraxia
freddy played a blinder, really good set, i think his take on break core is the one that is closest to what im enjoying music wise at the moment.

leechwoman
suffered from the size of the venue, the giuar as a percussion instrument, alas somthered by a bit of a duff mix, sounded like patches of interwoven static seranading harsh beets and well thought out lyrics (i think) im going to track down a few mp3's and the like, i recon theres a lot of fun subtelty in there somewhere... oh, and for those who follow my 'rants' - the threee gituars were front of stage, the electronix were hidden away at the back, facing the wall. *sigh*

Machienochrist
this was proper breakcore, brutilised squarepusher, all the genre defining big samples used beautifully and the breaks were yay. I can honistly say i havent quite got break core yet, its was good listening music, but theres no way i could dance to it for an extended ammount of time. and it was on for an Extended ammount of time. The slight yet nagging technical difficulties ascide tho a very competant and pleasingly live performance.

hypnoskull
i feel a bit naff raving about the headline act, but hypnoskull ended music, the mutability of it, totally interactive, seemingly compleetley generated by the whims of a mad belgian. the one or two tracks from his previous albums which did get an airing seemed stifled and viceral, tracks to keep the public happy, compaired to the sophisticated thematic caffiene rush of the new break-core. The genre seems a little young in this county we cenranly cant provide the multy thousand audiences mr scull is used to in belgin, and as such his music was to me, like waking from a life withought music to some tschicoski symphony, so rich in its sophistication and experteese of execution. Absent was the somwhat tiresum amen break, hypno seemed to be able to pull truley innovative rhythmic perversions out of everything form gabba 4/4 to pop-hop's rolling rhythms, there was not a dull moment. Hypno seemed to approach sound at a macro level, frequently shattering the metric grid, swopping tempo, flipping between a seemingly endless number of beautifully prepaired breaks, this was serilism with a realistic approach to tempo, cage and boulez would have approved.
so, yea. a bit good.

trig!

i somehow need to get more people using this service. the 'myspace is a poorley designed sack of crap' bragade *really* get my goat when they complain cieslesly about it, yet, when offered a more functional alternitive become 'too bored' to maintain their profiles.
well i gots news for ya! im not a subscriber to that plan and even in the cold light of a dieing world where my myspace profile gets more hits then my atual website i will overcome! i will trig!!

its also quite sad that the pattern of use for theese 'social networking' sits remains basicaly unchanged, with unsolicited attempts from bands to advertise themselves occuring fortnightly, now i am in the same position, and i must admint to the ocasional rouge *yeah they looks cool* add, however coreline online (with the aception of a frantic first few weks) has become a passive mechinism, people will come and visit my profiles if the subject matter appeals to them.

In the Myspace senario, where every friend request is from another indi band from new york despratly attempting to attain the hedonism of 'next big thing' the concept of 'friend' becomes devalued. in siad senario one dose not send a 'friend request' one sends a 'request for attention' friends become a compleetly meaningless currencey, few will ever visit twice, those that do will quickley default to a better method of communication.

A better method is that employed by last.fm, its modell is based arround the fact that the site is a utility, the currencey is 'songs scrobbled' though equally meaningless it allows the friend and 'comment' system to be used for friendley banter, community information, as there is a community, and not for advertising or embedding silly imaged (as in myspace). It would be a heddy achievment for the sites designers to look into that sociological mechnism and attempt to imploment somthing similar, thas where killer apps and webbys come from.

synth rant!! ^_^

what possess people to buy the same instruments owned by everyone else in the scene?. it escapes me. In this senario i refir to the ubiquious access virus, strip off the bells and wistles and it is exactally the same as just about evey digital modeling subtractive synthiser ever, . My little korg radias was a fraction of the price and has comparable and in some cases, superior features.

the precieved supremicy of Acces's flag ship and only synth (different flavours of the same chipset ascide) strikes me as the worst kind of superstision, ergo, superstision which costs money.

Though, saying that, two sculpters can create vastley different results from the same chissell.

But i have no faith that people actually use synths for anything other then locating a pleasing preset. Modern synths do not help this, as near 50% of the programming cycle involves 'reverse-engineering' the origional preset. At least the Radias ships with a bank of blank presets. This is my real beaf with the virus, i pride my self on my synth programming, modern synths with their instance on packing out evert byte of memory with a nightmare of fire and modulation, picking theese beastley sounds appart is like trying to unstich a pair of trowsers from milan, or take appart a fararri. its not rewarding work when at the end of it you are met with a shrill sinewave.

i think modern digital synthisis has become less about 'buying a tool' as buying a collection of finished works wraught by that tool.

ahh! i SHOULDENT be working right now.

yeah, i hate it,
in the mornings when the e-mail clinet plays the hollow plunk of no new mail (which dosent feature peni, calis, artificially inflated stock or artificially inflated anything else, i miss the old scamms, when it was more subtle, what happened to the 429'ers with there somewhat well thought out scamms? it used to be subtle, nowdays, its all just shit badley imigineered phising or repeat calls from bot networks, the internet, its not what it used to be.) it indocates that theres nothing for me to do this morning, so ill type some word art in this face.

the weekend was awesome, its nice pretending to be a celebraty, im sure everyone thinks im a cock now but thats par for the cource at-least im not a bitchy cock, though expressing a musical oppinion other then 'i really like them' reeks of bitching sometimes so musical debate can end up stifled if i speek to customers, and to be frank, in this war of cd sales, everyone is a tartge onstage was a tad looser then i had hoped, no injuries this time and givin that its only the second show featuring dave i think we fell across a few imporvments which will tell for a more enjoyable live experience for us, hopefully happy artists == happy audience.
bodding about too and from belfast was alright, appart from the monumental failure to visit newgrange which really set my mood down a notch or two for the whole weekend.
still, nice relaxing night this eventide, some FFXII, some musak, maby even some food.

shouldent i be working right now?

im supposed to be working, well, at least comosing, or at the very least packing but i thought i would come on here and vent a bit first.

mon bloddy merre is being a cunt faced squid lady and telling me i need to pay back all the money she *gave* me for university, she can cock off, she dosent have a legal leg to stand on. i was thinking about paying back but thats fucked it now.

one of my ex friends is leaving bitchey hints about the place he can join my mum in the fuck off room for the meanwhile, i would build bridges and be friends with him but its lke building a bridge with an island that keeps mooving away, piss on em, it was a fun few years while it lasted,

i got offered a perminant contract at work and then i had a pure mment of clarety, do i really want to sign up to a backwater call cantre job for at least the next few years? what about my academic career, what about the music, what about free time.... what about my yooof?? *weep* so im 'thinking about it'

its days like this that bring me ever close to another breakdown. which is arse. to make matters wortse its like 16:00 now and i need to bed by 20 as i have to get dave in a van with jack and get to belfast for this gig, which had better be bloddy ace as im sacrificing my weekend for 35 minutes of fame and maby ome merch stalls
people had better be bloddy pleased to see me.

if got an eadache now. im going to go pack up teh synths

rise of the digital deejaie

waddhya think... im going into the digital dj domain, i recon i have four choices and one or two bits and bobs complicating maters... lets start with the complications:

material:

most of my mp3's are of stuff with *i* (as apposed to everyone else) really like. stuff like keef baker and dire streights, its not a friendley mix and i cant exactally pull 'starsign' out of my arse when things get tough.

space:

my computer is a mac, my mac is a DAW first and formost, my DAW runs a *lot* of software, my software burdened DAW is very low on free space. As such i have no such l;uctury as a 5 gig mp3 collection as i need that space for session files and spectra (when im in a funney mood) thus any sidways moovment will need aditional storage

time > money:

time is all at a premium at the moment so even givin relitive financial security i would need to set ascide a good day to mp3 all the cd's i can picture myself using in that senario

whith all this in mind here are the options:

traktor £130:

its expensive overfeatured and totally over the top but part of me longs for the rediculous sophistication of the 'flagship' digital dj goo. also, NI are very very good at rewarding repeat custom with sick hard discounts, upgrades, crossgrades and all the world and his dog in fancey extras and demos.

Albeton live £nout:

live is live, its not really a dj tool but it could be used as such, the majour problem with with this senario is all import files require pre-processing to get them beatsunk and thus its not as quick as i would like.

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/discoxt.html: about £10:

simple, cheep, effective, shiney, and intogrates well with my itunes library (which unfortunitaly dosent intograte well with removable storage.. sif.) ill bet it will be all coco with drag and drop and all sorts.... but is it difficult enough to justify my thirst for 1337ness.

Reactor £nout:

reactor dosent get enough use, and with a fairley minimal ammount of fiddle i could build a dj software system. the problems are that its a version off being universally compatible with the intel system and as such i just cant be 100% sure it will be stable in the face of a hectick deeeejay set

well i think ill look into the reactor and ableton solutions first as they are free. It remains to be seene that i wont be leaving my CD's at home for a good few years yet.
