Some history:
In 2001 Erik bought himself some synth equipment and started to record tracks on a tascam 4-track recorder. The sound could be described as noisy sound-experiments and improvised instrumental tracks with added electric organ and guitarr. A bit later he discovered the power of using the computer for music making. The sound turned to videogame/chip style with a twist of synthpop. Still instrumental. The name was in the beginning just "Erik", and after a while a diy CD was released under the name of "EKSS".

Kinder aus Asbest released one self titled album and a single called "Elektronic". Now some words were introduced in the music,vocoder-stylee! Later on other voices where intruduced, -clips from an old sex education record from the 50s. You could hear them in the track "Seet Sex" on the same titled EP also containing the tracks "Desiree" (wich also includes samples from the same educational record), "Spiele von Berlin" and "ODE to Dax, U-Gen & Zao". Spiele von Berlin contains a sample from the opening of the olympic games in Germany 1936. The voice of Hitler. The conection between sports and evil is obvious! Just kidding, but Erik has in fact never been very kind of sports activities. It should be cleared that this track is not at all a hymn for Hitler or his philosophy.
The track ODE to Dax, U-Gen & Zao is on the other side a hymn, but to a group called
IKO'83 from Canada. In this one the sound is a reference to the sound of IKO.
There never came any more records from this project, but there are circulating some unreleased tracks at soulseek and other filesharing networks. So just keep your eyes open!
In the spring of 2006 Kinder aus Asbest appeard live in germany on the Neon-Welt festival with bands like Trans Active Nightzon and Weltklang. The Kinder aus Asbest-track called Hey Engel, from the self titled album, was later remixed by that very same Weltklang, who also added some vocals. The track appear on the 12" "Liebesgrüsse aus Ost-Berlin" from 2006, on the geman label Exil-System. The 12" also contained Weltklang - VEB Heimat -EKSS Remix, that's an acid'isch bubbeling version of the
27 year old cult track. Erik took up the EKSS-project in 2005 and started to experiment with the modern type of sound, a bit more dance oriented, after his discover of minimal techno and tech house. The track Another Day, wich is the only song that has been released as a promo, became a minor underground-hit of the club-people in Gothenburg.

There has been one more live apperance -with the two tracks from the 12", together with Weltklang at Sticky Fingers, Gothenburg in december 2006.
The EKSS-project is still awake, but is moving slowly. Lots of varius styles is blended and explored. Hopefully there will be a collection-CD of diffrent tracks and styles, out by the summer.
