Synapse Orion is my shorthand for Synapse Audio Orion Platinum 7, which is the version I use. The software company used to be called Sonic Syndicate but became Synapse Audio when they changed their top software from Orion Pro to Orion Platinum. Check it out at
The Orion environment is not as easy to use as Reason 4, but the price is nice at $150 (I'm guessing that's about 75 pounds?). It is also nice because it has a VST/VSTi based environment--currently unavailable inside Reason.
Silver iMac! I'm soooo jealous...I might own one someday--albeit in the distant future, but someday nonetheless. Haven't used Ableton 7 yet. What are some of the new features? By the way, LOVE Reason 4. That's what I use for several of my songs. I find it to be a bit easier to do the general tasks of midi/note sequencing and effects processing than other programs. Right now my work flow is like this (but not really in this order):
Reason 4 - Midi/Sequencing and Scoring, all well as FX/Processing
Adobe Audition - Sample/Sound editing and Processing
Acid Pro 6 - VST Instrument Sequencing or FX and Laying down tracks. I then output them to a .Wav file or mp3
Sometimes I use Fruity Loops or Synapse Orion for VST/VSTi. Just depends on a few things.
Cool man. I dig that track because it has a nice flow, has fairly good production, and reminds me of a song from The Crystal Method. I know, I know--right, they were sellouts or something. If you believe that or not, either way that's cool. Alot of people who are 'techno purists' hate the mainstream artists, much like other music styles. I say, if you make it big, follow your heart and stick with it--screw the haters! LOL
Thanks for the Trig! I love the soundscapes and breaks. It is interesting how music can transcend a person's space and travel thousands of miles to connect with another, maybe even someone of a different language and culture. Hmm...that gives me an idea for a novel. Anyhow, what kind of instruments or setup do you have? I'm always trying to learn from others a better way to make music.
By the way, have you ever heard the soundtrack for the remake of the movie Solaris? It is by a guy named Cliff Martinez. I saw the movie a few years back and was reminded the other day of how good the score/soundtrack was. It's good for chillin.
Thank You for sharing.

Have a great weekend!
