Jesus....I just had the experience of a lifetime
I went to the N*E*R*D* concert tonight and during their performance of "Rockstar", I'm in the middle of the crowd just going insane. I love N*E*R*D* and I think everything they do is a fucking gift to music. All of the sudden, Pharrell Williams himself points at me and motions for me to come up on stage. I was in such a state of shock that I had to literally be shoved by two of my friends to get up there. I run through the crowd and jump on stage and immediately hug Pharrell and decided it was time for me to go crazy. I start trading versus with Pharrell during the song and am trying my hardest to get the crowd amped without looking like an ass (I should have prefaced this by saying that I was moderately drunk when the show started). We go back and forth killing this song and when it ends Pharrell asks me my name and shoves his mic in my face. I'm so nervous I can't believe I said anything, much less "My name's Evan". Pharrell then said, "This is some new shit Evan, this is some shit you never heard before" and I added "Alright man, let's just bang it out right here". So ww start jamming out again and this song is ridiculous. I don't need to know the words to scream at the crowd, jump up and down, and hand shake the front row. We do one more song together before a bouncer calls me over and tells me to bounce after this song. N*E*R*D* performs, i stay up there with them, shaking hands with the entire band, before hugging Pharrell one more time and tell him, "Hey man, I need to hear some "Bobby James" and some "Run to the Sun" before you go" and he says back "Absolutely nigga, we gonna bring that back". Then he says to the crowd, "Hey y'all, give it up for muthafuckin Evan."
My God the experience I had was almost unexplainable. I was a local god damn celebrity at the Cain's.
I caught up backstage with Pharrell one more time and thanked him for letting me be apart of the show and told him I hoped to see him, Lupe Fiasco, and Kanye West in OKC and he just said "Hope you're there man, I might just pull your ass onstage one more time." Then he was gone.
Best night I've had in years.
