Chris McDermott started playing guitar at the age of eleven. As a child, Chris received much of his music equipment from his Grandmother. The most important instrument that he was given, which has since become his instrument of choice, was the guitar. Ironically, the first guitar given to him was a typical right handed guitar. However, being left handed he grew accustomed to playing upside-down. Over the years, Chris did not have much luck in terms of forming an actual band. So he decided to buy a multi-track recorder, along with a variety of other equipment, and created his own home studio. "The music doesn’t suffer the terrible 'rushed-sounding' fate that many songs have; Songs that were bound by the restraints of pay-by-the-hour studio sessions... Complete creative freedom is possible nowadays, with the relatively cheap availability of a technology that previous generations of artists before us had never even dreamed of... It truly is a great day-in-age to be a musician,".

Chris also takes part in a band with his brother, “the Nine Aligned”.
