I've been in kind of a funk lately. I've come to a point in my life when I feel it's time to shit or get off the pot. I really enjoy my job, I find it very interesting and would have no problem if I end up doing it for the rest of my life. Musicly I've had a whole "this is my last attempt at making something with a band" type of vibe. So far things are running very smooth, these guys have been in bands and understand it's not only about what you play, it's about how you present yourself. The music is amazing, I'm really happy to be apart of it. As a writing team we've been moving along, trying to lay down good structure and keep a flow that sounds cool. The guys are cool as hell if I was single I'd be down to chill with them alot more.
For this post I went with something recent. I've been called a dem, and a lib for my thoughts about the war. I don't think it's an easy task to remove american troops from Iraq, but how long can we spent trying to stabilize a country that is used to being unstable. It's like training a Dog, when the dog is a puppy it's real easy to train. If you let the puppy piss in the corner until it becomes an adult it will piss in the corner. Sure you can take him outside and he'll take a piss but once inside again you can tell him no till your blue in the face. He waits you out then pisses in the corner again because it was ok when he was a puppy. Anyway before I go on a tangent, this new writing is still untitled enjoy.
sifting through the ashes
our hero on his knees
searching for some solace
he cries out to the sky
defeat has never known him
the tears he can't hold back
the emptiness will own him
the regret will take him down
In the first days of war
we saw a nation stand as one
Unity was like a shield
from all of those opposed
as time went by
our patients soon wore thin
innocent blood was shed
so many more signed up to win
Returning to the homeland
security in breach
he's treated like a Savior
a poster boy for government leach
but nothing was acomplished
he feels as if he's failed
the mission ran it's course
and dead men tell no tails
In the last days of war
divided we did stand
some would say we won
never questioning the man
then there are the realists
who see desert for just sand
those who never wanted
to invade that foreign land

I know EXACTLY what you mean by this, I'm the same way.
The cool thing about Pinion is everyone cares. I've been in bands where one person does all the work and the band suffers for it, I guess that's why it feels different in the right way this time around.
