I'm not even sure I can even have respect for them.
I AM SERIOUSLY CONFUSED at why they are good. Someone explain to me, PLEASE! I'm really not even trying to be rude.
1. All their songs sound the same, no?
2. The singer is not singing. He's talking.
3. The "singer" is like monotone? BUELLER? BUELLER? BUELLER?
4. Not even any good lyrics?
5. what?
IF YOU LIKE THEM, TELL ME WHY. That's all I'm asking. I'm not attacking them I'm being honest about how I feel. I just want to know how anyone can like this band.. so do tell

Because I am old enough to remember Sisters of Mercy, The Cult and Fields of the Nephilim. All of which I liked.
To each their own with regard to musical tastes. You're young yet, you'll learn the value of that eventually.

I love being able to amuse people, cheers.
ROTFLMFAO
Well, then maybe your next blog should be a lesson on how one should state their opinion to avoid confrontation and aggrivation.
I enjoyed reading all the comments, very neat. I like the different views people have, but no where did I personally read anything overly rude or insulting made by other people.
I enjoy stating my opinion however I happen to feel is appropriate, like many other people. Who are we to judge since opinions are, by basis, meant to cause problems and offened. Some people are just better at taking a difference of opinion then others.
hint hint
Where did I say the lyrics had to be gramatically correct? No where? Oh yea.
I like your comment except for the beginning and end. The end because never once have I made fun of someone's opinion. It's how they STATED that opinion that I have questioned.
I must point out the lyrical ignorance that you posses. The 69 Eyes are Finnish, and what's the official languages in Finalnd? That's right Finnish and Swedish. No where do I see English there. Hmm, so gramtically incorrect sentences is perfectly natural to experience. ie. The Rasmus' P.S. that was some of the worst English I'd ever heard, but it was understandable.
As for their music, I like it. What have you heard, just stuff from Devils? Or have you listened to stuff back to Motor City Resurrections and Bump 'n' Grind? Music changes, if it doesn't, the band is doing something wrong.
Or maybe you're one of those people that don't like change, and stop listening to bands when they very from what you're used to? I don't know, i refuse to judge. But I have noticed that you seem to have writen this blog to create a debate, Not that I have any problem with that, I do it all the time so that people re-learn to excorcise their minds.
But I like the Eyes, I like their music, I like their lyrics, I like the show they put on, I don't like that they're touring with Cradle, but hey, what can I do?
My boyfriend on the other hand, does not like the Eyes at all. Because of Jyrki's voice. It's too much like Steele from Type O Negative. It took my bf a month to figure out that it was the voice that bothered him, and not anything else, because it was just 'something' being 'off'.
If you don't like what I have to say, so be it. You don't like the Eyes, I could care a rat's arse about it. But don't chastise people for their opinions when you've asked for it.
People's opinions are all different, which is what makes all interesting and different, other wise we'd all be listing to some shit pretending to be Paris Hilton or some moron like that. I take personal offence when I see peoples opinions insulted or put down.
have a 'peachy' day.
I am listening if I am replying to most of you. It's when you say silly things that I must point them out. I would like to ask how I was being rude TO YOU? I clearly wasn't.The reasons people are giving are irrelevant EXCEPT for a few comments. To stop myself from being further "rude" to you I guess I stall stop replying.
"donna the gin" 2nd best comment ever, thank you
The first few times I heard their albums I was kind of take it or leave it about them overall. I enjoyed the sound of three or four songs - a sound I can only describe as "RAWK" (said with just as much emphasis) something that is severely lacking in most of today's music - but over all, not really impressed. I was just sort of "oh" about it. Like a recognition that they existed, but nothing more than that. You see, I'm kinda jaded in that respect. At the risk of dating myself, I grew up during they heyday of the "rawk" sound. The time of Hanoi Rocks, Guns N Roses, Sisters of Mercy, Metallica, Motley Crue, various other hair bands, etc. I can respect that the Eyes were trying to capture that "rawk" sound - trying much harder than most cookie-cutter bands out there - as well as keep the traditional Finnish melancholy, but it just wasn't hitting the nail on the head for me. And I'm probably going to get shot for this, but I thought Jyrki's voice complete with broken English accent (which has since improved) to be only maybe a step away from Silent Bob's Russian cousin in Clerks singing "would you like some making fuck - Bezerker".
That is, until I saw them live the first time. Shit knocked me right on my ass. Now, I don't know if it was the actual music, the fact it was in their home town, the vibe of their home town hardcore audience, the fact it was my 30th birthday, or if it really was just the strength of their performance. All I knew was that I walked out of that venue feeling like I had just seen a damn good show, and had my socks rocked right off. It had been a long time since I had that feeling after a performance, especially one so intimate and so no-frills (i.e. stage gimmicks, smoke, flash pots, explosions, etc.). I travel with bands as a part of my profession, and literally see hundreds of shows in a year's time. After a while as I'm sure you can imagine, the shows get boring and pretty standard fare. I've travelled with the Eyes as well, and I have to say, without fail I still get that "rocked my socks off" feeling after every one of their shows. I LIVE for that feeling. So yeah. That made me a fan.
I hope that's an answer? I've always wondered how and why people like some of the shit out there as well, but never got bored enough to listen to the answers.
wow, this is gettin' interesting, like, i don't like the muppet show but i like the simpsons!
