Sigh... It's time someone wrote about this, and it looks like it's gonna have to be me.
I get loads of friend requests. While this is nice and all, the vast majority are from people I don't know, and who apparently have no interest in getting to know me. I have gotten three or four requests from the same persons, even after I denied and even commented (well mannered) on it - TWICE. Sure, if I see a band I like, I could send a friend request, but only because there are no fan lists. Now I'm not a band, and I doubt I have fans in the States, so the only possible explanation would be it's an obnoxious jerk with a too large an ego. Please - Bug Me Not.
Don't you wonder why people send friend requests without trigging a single piece of your content, and don't even bother to leave a comment?
What's wrong with that? Well first of all it's not only rude, it's stupid. Looking for your fifteen minutes of fame at an internet community with thousands of people mimicking your struggle will only end with your fifteen minutes of shame. And Trig.com will only turn into another fucking Myspace.
I also have to mention what already has been brought up at the forum and in other blogs; many still don't understand the point of trigging. - It's not a way to mark your path through the trig jungle whacking away with a machete. It's a way to show respect and appreciation of users content. - It should be used as such for top lists and search results to make sense in the end.
Enough for todays rant, now browse around and trig away, but only trig stuff you like. Argh...

Here's a suggestion though, I'm very consciensous about not requesting friendship from someone who's denied me in the past. Sometimes you make a mistake and hit a profile up a second time. This boards growing day by day, I've got a decent memeory but avatars change.
If you don't want to be my friend I can live with that, but maybe go the extra click and "block" me?
Funny thing, on some rare occasions I've had people deny my request only to send me a request at a later date.
I do try to hand out quality trigs, and I'm not affraid to chat it up with you. One thing though, if you're looking to chat maybe go with something other than "Thanks for the add" or "Thanks for the Trig's"....
Trig on!
I've turned off my friend's request, you have to send me a message first... it's really really really nice way of getting peope to leave you alone
Well said. Drives me up the wall that people use trigging as a popularity contest as it denies how useful a little tool it really is. Being a total triggaholic these days, it's the first thing I tell bands etc about when I tell them to join. Then they probably get here and see the bs and think what the hell was she on about
If I end up on a profile for some reason (usually through live n direct content or someone elses profile) I at least trig the profile ... something attracted my attention to it. Mind you I have to say I have no problem accepting friend requests from people who don't trig .. I've found some newbies who just don't get it so never trigged anything (until I go into lengthy explainations about it lol) I use the tags to upgrade the people I actually get to know to a status I class as friends.
And my god I do go on! Sorry ... you hit on a pet peeve
hit the nail on the head...and now i'll leave you alone
true that
Amen
