Obviously Finns are not known of great small talk. We tend to like short sentences and one syllable answers even if it renders the discussion useless. The situation, however, can be flipped upside down by simple few litres of pure spirit, summer and inter-sex sauna bathing full with vihtominen (=whipping each other with bunch of birch-branches).

These peculiar habits even might be the original reason for not speaking too much. The day after one could have splitting headache, taste of bile in the mouth, combined with deep regret messing with wrong person butt-bare. That could get anybody sullen?
Over the centuries this habit somehow got in to our genes!

    ‎Thank you for this.  Between laughing alot, I realized how I went wrong in greeting Bazie and Jyrki69 at the show in Columbus....   I talked too much.
