Pronunciation
This is not a part of crash-course in itself. It is more or less an aide requested by many...
Finnish is quite easy to get once you learn one simple thing:
Everything is pronounced as it is written.
Both vowels and consonants can be short or long (written with one or two letters). The length is distinctive and can get you into inspiring and artistic situations if you skip one letter or speak one too many. So, we tend to cut it short.
In the crocery store:
Saanko pusin/pussin? = May I have a kiss/bag?
In the bar:
Minä tarvitsen ISON lasin/Lassin aikaisempi ei kestänyt kuin minuutin. = I need a BIG glass/Lassi[guys name] the earlier lasted only a minute.
Dropping by in christmas time to a friends house:
Voi ihanaa, täällä kusi/kuusi taas haisee! = Oh lovely, it smells like piss/fir again in here!
Here is a guide with some examples. There is also a poem hidden in there. I could not help myself. Otherwise it would have been too dull a task for me. I tried to put words having both long and short vowels and consonants in the first part. The second part is for common Finnish diphthongs.

This is so much fun!
I'm saying the words out loud and loving it (even though I probable suck at the pronunciation, lol) I will definitely be back to read more of your blogs. This is awesome!
will you be putting up more
in regards to the Finnish
crash course
One of my favourite things about Finnish people is their sense of irony. Almost every Finnish person I'm friends with has said to me, "here, put this in your pussi" even if they couldn't speak any other English outside of that.
Have I told you lately how much I love your people!
Dude, this shit is cool. Start a site of your own.
Another great blog
Thanks so much for this Mangroval!
Atleast now I can be a little more confident about speaking the words, lol, I think thats probably where I need the most study.
As for posts here in Australia for "deranged" finnish teachers, lol, probably not but you never know! It would certainly be a fun class to be in, which would only serve to make more people interested in learning the language.
Speaking of which, okay my interest is now piqued as to the x-rated curriculum too! hehehe
Much love, Bree xo.
I'm in agreeance with those that have a more Xrated course cirriculum in mind ..lol
You are, without a doubt, a genius!!!
Thank you!
(I'm suposed to be doing my Finnish homework....I say I AM doing Finnish homework.....)
