The embryo of what would be Masugn was set when guitarist A.Fridén & singer/bassplayer Eytzinger jammed together in different alloys. Later M.Kyrö joined forces and the name Masugn came up. This was about in the dusk of 2004. When drummer J. Månsson, later Noc, started playing with Masugn in January 2005 they were a full live-set. ”Damballah” was recorded at Farmside Studio only a month after Månssons entrance. Many of the songs were put together as a whole in the studio.The recording was mostly ment to be used as a proof of the capacity within Masugn. It turned out very well and a lots of people really liked it. A few gigs were made and new songs was given birth to.. This time the material contained more fury and was more well put together and the band had a lot of time getting to know each other musically and personally. The songwriting just went on and on and soon there were enough satisfying material for another CD to be recorded. ”A scent of decreation” was recorded by Marko Tervonen (ex- Crown) in his own Studio MT in Trollhättan, also just about to record his own project ”Angelblake”. Masugn made a few more gigs and the demo was popular amongst both fans and magazines. During the winter 2005 Masugn was beginning to get split up with Kyrö and Eytzinger wanting one thing with the band and Månsson and Fridén wanting something else...so they left Masugn. This was both a loss and a boost. Kyrö and Eytzinger got to concentrate themselves in developing the sound and the essence of Masugn. During the later half of 2006 and beginning of 2007 Kyrö and Eytzinger has been digging the depths, continuing with the developement of the sound. Some furious, aggressive, progressive and heavy tracks have been written. In late december 2006, after trying out some different drummers, the axe fell on Robin Andreasson. He came, he listened, and he delivered and is since that day, the drummer of Masugn. With the beginning on may the 2:nd 2007 the debutalbum has started to take shape. The recordings will continue during the summer and a raw mix is expected somewhere in the middle of the summer...
