Thanx to all that came out to the Parkside Tavern last night

Thanx to all that came to the Parkside Tavern last night! Thanx to Egokill for kicking ass yet again as well. Huge props to Dave of G Force Productions for making us sound great! Also thanx to Rich Marini, Courtney, and anyone else who was taking pictures, but more importantly, thanx to everyone that came out. We saw a lot of people there who've never seen Pinion before, that's pretty cool.
Hopefully over the next few days we'll get photos and maybe, if Chris' old computer decides to work, maybe we'll post some video up as well.

Our next shindig on the schedule is October 31st at the Parkside Tavern with Days of War and the Laysan Rail. There's 2 more, just can't remember them off the top of our head. This will be a real deal halloween show, we are making costumes for the show. That's right, we're going to put effort into it. Mostly because we're really kids at heart(ok, so Chris and Dave are, I mean who runs to the Ice Cream truck anyway?) but we want to have fun with this stuff, so don't act like you're too mature for it, go get a costume and come out to the show. I don't care if you go as Crazy Newspaper face, Buckwheat, or Charles' funny rowdy Uncle "Rambone", just get a costume and come out. Maybe we'll give prizes to best costume? That's your hint to get a costume!

Anyway, we're hoping to get some stuff upstate before the halloween show, or maybe even a show in Jersey, and November is rumored to be absolutley crazy, so keep an eye on this page for more info on when and where we'll be next!

Studio report 3: Dave Guitars, and other show info

Yo what's up?
As you know, we've been working our asses off in the studio. The commute from rockland to Long Island is getting hectic, but we're really proud of what we're doing with this. Dave's been doing a pretty sick job in the studio, in fact, watch a video about it:

..

Another thing we kinda wanted to touch on is that we are looking to hold off on playing shows until after we record. We're thinking recording (and mixing) will be wrapped up before the end of July, and we are trying to work something out for then.
Also, we do want to point out that we are trying to get all ages shows, in fact we could've played one this weekend, but then again, Dave wouldn't have gotten a 9 hour day in the studio. Don't worry, we're gonna get to an all ages show eventually, in fact, Egokill brought up an awesome suggestion we're gonna look into. So yeah it's coming.

Thanx for all your support and we'll see you on June 14th!

Studio Update 2.5

Hey, Weasil here. Chris, Leroy, asshole, or whatever you want to call me. Finished bass yesterday for the cd. Wowzas! Now I have more time to concentrate on purchasing fake neck tattoos! It was a pretty grueling process for me, because, Hey I've never been in anything that's made it to the studio, but somehow made it through it. For you gear heads, I did a majority of the tracking on the Fender American Deluxe Precision bass, and only whipped out the schecter for one song. Everything was tracked mic'd with a Shure Beta 52 for the lows and some other mic (Gessler?) for the highs, Gave it a nice gritty sound.
We also tried out this little magic trick for guitars that i'm pretty sure you'll be super impressed with once we begin tracking.

For those wondering when we're playing next right now the only thing we have on tap is 6/14 at Olives with Blue Collar War, Egokill and one more once we get in touch with them. We're hoping you all come out for this one, we're trying to make it a big one! Don't quote me but we might have an all ages show in OC also in June, and I know I'm also trying to work on an OC show for late summer, so that should be cool.

Oh yeah one more thing before we go, you have to check out this band Brock Murdoch We caught them at Olives last night, They are amazing!

Studio Update 2: BASS

Hey, what's going on? Weasil here, so I tracked some bass over the weekend and things went pretty good. I'm almost done, just got to fix some fills and stuff, other wise things are comingt along great. Wait until you hear how awesome Charles' kick drum sounds on this! I will say this, Jon and Adam are doing an amazing job with our stuff and I know I'm super pumped about how 'Rise from Nothing' will come out!
We're still talking up a release date on this, and we've been taking our time tracking things as not to rush it, so basically we're saying we don't really have an anticipated release date, once we go into mixing we'll have a better idea.

Here's this week's studio video, brought to you in part by the Heineken Draught Keg and White Castle and a stupid monkey:
In case you didn't know, YES WE ARE RECORDING A CD, details...

Just figured we'd clarify it. We've been getting a ton of requests to send our tunes your way. While we do appreciate the fact that people want our tunes, we please ask that you wait 2 months. The reason for this is we are recording our cd right now as we type this. So far we have drums, and after this weekend we'll have BIS...I mean bass. Hey, look, it's been a long week, we all went to Gigantour tuesday and somehow Charles hopped on the tour. I think In Flames kidnapped him. Either way, we met their ransom demands or they got sick of him asking to play the Roadhouse, wait that would be pretty cool.
In the next few weeks we'll be laying low, not only recording but hopefully finish the 2 songs we've been working on. But we will return live in either late May (if we get that offer), otherwise our first show back will be June 14th, which may or may not be the cd release, we have to see how things stack up. For those who fear physical copies, no need to panic, we will not only be selling them on myspace thru Snocap but also thru Itunes, amazonmp3, rhapsody(if people use that) and so on. Let us know what you think

We will be attempting to sell T shirts within the week online. We have a limited supply, but we'll have them up. We have 2 designs, just check back next week.

If you have any questions regarding booking feel free to hit us up pinionmetal@gmail.com and we will get back to you in a timely manner. You can also contact us thru myspace as well, but please provide a phone number.

Rock us some comments and tell us what you think!

Studio Report week 1

I was kinda hoping Charles would do this entry, but we're all super busy. I combed thru the footage, didn't really get too much of Charles drumming, but this is probably the best way to show you what went down last weekend, plus you get to hear a rough version of the song and all about Plantar Facitis, that's pretty exciting. Ok it's really not.

By the way, I would just like to personally note that Windows Movie Maker sucks, and that's why the quality is so low. I'm workin on it for the next vid

We are going to begin and hopefully finish tracking bass next weekend. We made an attempt last week but my amp resulted in Epic failure, apparently jumping off of your speaker cab and pointing your bass in the air doesn't translate on an audio recording very well.

We really haven't spammed you all that much bulletin wise, but we're playing an "EARTH DAY" show with a Nyack Reggae band International Generation on sunday 4/20. Also playing will be Garbage Juice, whom we previously played with at Local Origins, and more. It's an early show, so you have more than enough time to watch us rock out and get home in time for Family Guy on FOX or The Rock of Love reunion show, because rocking Bandannas is awesome? Oh no wait, maybe not, unless Mini riots and carrying an Axe around are your thing. You know who you are...
pre studio update

Just figured we'd rock you a quick update.
Tomorrow we enter the studio to begin recording our cd. It's going to be 5 songs and we're hoping to get it out in June. This is going to be a large undertaking and we do appreciate all your patience in waiting for quality tunes. We've gotten more than 5000 spins on the internet on these little reference demos we made, and that's pretty freaking cool.
As far as the recording goes, We're starting with drums on Saturday and hopefully finish Bass on Sunday. We will be documenting the whole process with the video cam, so expect too see cool stuff like that, we know there's a lot of people that like to see how the process works so yeah.
We are skipping a weekend in the studio, but we're playing a show on 4/20 at Olive's with International Generation, Lives or Levels and Garbage Juice, it's a 5pm so get there early.
After that it's back in the studio to track guitars, we figure that will take a weekend or 2 and then the next weekend it's vocals, mixing and hopefully the middle of May we can send this thing out to get pressed.
We have kinda touched on it before in these blogs, but we're planning on selling the songs thru tunecore, which allows you to sell on rhapsody, itunes, amazonmp3 as well as other sites, we might even have that up before we get the actual physical cds! Don't quote us on this, but we're hoping that June 14th might be our cd release show, but then again, this is subject to change. Who knows, maybe it'll be sooner?

We really enjoyed last night and had a great time.
We’re still working on our videos and we are getting a ton of footage. If you haven’t gathered, we’re trying to get enough footage to pull together some Pantera type stuff for not only youtube, but possibly a DVD.
Thanx to all that came out to the Hotey last night

We want to thank Dylan for putting on that awesome Local Origins showcase, totally exceeded all expectations.

Big thanx to everyone who stuck around to see us. We know we went on mad late and it was pretty cool that people stuck around, including some of the awesome bands like Alycea and the Moon dogs, Erosian Exile, Chin Music and so on. Strangest Tribe was bad ass.

Next up on the agenda is the Otto’s show in NYC. We’re scheduled to go on at 8 and it should be a good one.
Then after that will be our awesome show with Days of War right back in Pearl River at the Parkside tavern, pretty much right across the street from the Hotey. Then we go into the studio and begin recording our cd.

Once again, thanx, you people rock and make this worth it!

Update for 3/26/08

We realize we haven’t said much lately so we thought we’d give you a quick buzz on what’s going down. We haven’t even posted a freakin youtube in like a month! All this will change as Chris (aka Weasil) is investing in a camera, so in the spirit of Pantera’s awesome home videos, and Metallica’s Year in a life volume 2(yeah we know volume 1 was cool, but volume 2 was the funny one), we will be documenting everything from Charles being serious, to Chirag not being serious, Herv farting, Chris jumping into Bushes, swinging on vines and setting stuff on fire in the woods, and Dave, being Dave. We will have the camera in time for our wild studio endeavor and many youtube clips will be made, and they will be way funnier than anything we’ve ever posted.

We have maybe 4 shows coming up, we might have one more before we go into the studio in NJ, but nothing’s confirmed. We are playing Local Origins on saturday and we plan on making it bad ass. No, we have no idea what time we will go on, so please don’t ask until after 9pm saturday night, that’s when we’ll be pulling a number out of a hat to determine just that. Fucking rhymed, kick ass!
After that Next week it’s Otto’s in NYC, maybe this NJ show on the 5th, then Parkside Tavern in Pearl River, it’s Mikey’s birthday from Days of War, should be a party! Then it’s right into the studio the next day, we should be thoroughly trashed and Thrashed! Thrashed Lost and Strung out on Long Island!

Regarding the sound recordings, shows and other info

Thanx for the awesome turnout at these past 2 shows, you people really kick ass!

We have been recieving a lot of requests regarding the tunes in our player. Just to clear it up, we never intended for the tunes currently up in our player to be a representation of our sound, we just put that stuff up to give you an idea. Honestly we would feel guilty if we charged for these or passed them out, only because we know we could do better, and we know you deserve better quality recordings! We please ask that you bear with us for the next month, as we are going into the studio to record the songs "for real". We have a lot of stuff planned for the songs we have and if you wait 2 months, you’ll really hear what we are capable of.
It’s not that we are dissapointed totally with the quality of the tunes, it’s that all of them were either recorded on the rehearsal space’s beat up amps and drums, plus, we got all got new amps, and we want you to hear those, not that Vox amp and that weak non ported Ashdown bass amp, Chris hates that thing to death. Dave just got a new Peavey 6505, and Chirag’s Peavey JSX both sound amazing. I guess the moral of the story is for now you’ll just have to see us live to hear us for real. Randall Flagg put it best "Those recordings they have up don’t do them justice", so please be patient

Speaking of shows, we have 3 shows coming up and we figure we’ll tell you a little bit about them.
The first show is Local Origins, and you can find out more about them by clicking on them in our top 8 or whatever it’s called anymore. We will be doing a radio interview for the show friday night between 8-10 pm on http://www.rocklandworldradio.com
It involves being at Olives so we’re probably going to be in a fun mood for the interview. We have to do something, because we aren’t playing any music on it! Be sure to tune in, maybe you’ll hear a story involving a toilet!
We are returning to Otto’s Shrunken Head on 4/4. If you can, we strongly advise you to make it to this show, Chris is planning something special...
The next week we head back to Pearl River for a show with our friends in Days of War. It’ll be Mikey’s birthday, so you should come just for that!

Dunno if it’s gonna happen next week or not, but we’re trying to get t shirt sales up and running online. Stay tuned for more info on that.

Blog for March 2, 2008

We'd like to thank all that came out to the roadhouse to see us. For those that didn't come, you really missed out big time. Randall Flagg and Tiny Machines were amazing! We debuted a new song and it went over really well!

We'd like to thank Dave and G force Productions for the amazing sound and lights! I really urge all you bands to add him, he is a great ally to have in your corner! We would also like to thank Tiny Machines for coming out and playing an awesome set, check those guys out, great band, fun people and we will be recording with them next month, so if you want to hear an example of the quality of recording we're going to have, whoomp there it is!!!!!!!! We'd also like to thank Randall Flagg for not only playing, but for impressing the crap out of us with thier sound. These guys are great! Plus they outlasted Arbitrary, World's Demise, Close my eyes, and Bricktown, so that's gotta say something about their staying power.
We hope to have a ton of future shows with all these bands.

We'll have pictures and video in a day or 2. So please keep tuning in.

We are also playing NYC for the first time ever on saturday, if you are in the neighborhood or get excited over the possibility of kicking the Naked Cowboy square in the go-nads, please come out.
March 1st show info

There's been some changes to the March 1st show and we figured we'd give you a proper introduction to the bands we'll be playing with.

The First band up is one we just added to the show, and they are no stranger to Rockland county, Randall Flagg. They've been around for a while and it's about time they came back to rockland to kick some ass. Did you know that these guy's played a few shows back in the day with Herv's old band World's Demise? Chris knows, he was there! These guys play a great mix of Metal, hardcore and rock and you'll get to experience it first hand!

Next up on the agenda we have Tiny Machines. They have a nice blend of Pop punk and rock and they are awesome people. So awesome in fact we are going to record a cd with them. Oh snap, we just totally let that news out of the bag! The band has a history with Pinion as well, Chris and Tom were in bands back and forth together since they were 12, so this is pretty awesome. The last time those 2 played a show together it involved hot girls dressed in School outfits, whipped Cream and HBK Shawn Michaels, and that's all we're going to divulge.

Anywho, we figured we'd let you know what's up because we're super pumped for the show. Maybe later in the week We'll discuss this recording thing in greater detail

Peace

shows shows and more shows!

Sorry we haven't updated in a while, but we were obviously saving for something big. We have announced 2 of our upcoming shows. We also may have a last minute show, but we won't speculate on that until we have it totally confirmed.

Anyway, so far
Both shows are on satudays
3/1/08 At the Roadhouse in Airmont NY Featuring 4 In tha Chamber and our good buddies Tiny Machines. This will be a great mix of rock, metal and hardcore.

3/8/08 Otto's shrunken Head NYC. There's a lot of band's on this show, about 6? and it will be our first show outside of rockland. Are we going to have T shirts by then???? hmmmm...

Both shows however are 21 and up and we are working on flyers. We are looking to play some all ages shows, but nothings really rolling in right now, if you know anyone that is putting on an all age show, feel free to toss their info to us, because we do have every intention of playing for the kids as well! Wu Tang loves the children and so do Pinion.

On the song front, we pretty much just wrapped up our new song, and we're going to unleash it at these shows. We're still trying to finalize recording options, but we'll keep you updated!

Blog for January 31, 2008

Pinion just added a brand new demo on their trig site. The song is entitled "A Dark Alley Dead End." With Pinion's debut E.P. on the way the band thought it would be good to treat everyone who has supported the band thus far to another exclusive preview. So available on Pinion's Player is a rough recording of "A Dark Alley Dead End."
In other news, a new video will be posted shortly examining the lighter more diverse side of the band. Featured in this video will be Pinion writing and performing a new song. The still untitled track is close to being finished. And unlike some of the band's previous songs, it along with the rest of the band's material will not be availble until the E.P. is completed.
Expect Pinion to complete work on their Freshman release by April.
Thanx for the support!!!
What's up? Update for 1/20

Damn, 3 weeks into January and we've already played 2 shows, awesome. We slightly neglected adding more photos from our 1/12 but that has been corrected we added like 20 pictures. Big thanx goes out to Courtney and everyone else who contributed the pics.

We just got off a last minute show last night at Olives in Nyack, despite some technical difficulties, it was a pretty good show. we want to thank Dylan and Andy and the rest of Contraband for hooking us up with that sweet set. The technical difficulties kinda sucked because you didn't get to hear Chirag's awesome new amp. Maybe next show

"So whens the next show?"
Great question, however, right now we don't have now, but remember that we got this show real last minute, so who knows, it could happen again at a finger snap.
We are working on a show in the city and a show up in New Paltz, but other than that, if you are interested in booking us, please get in touch, pinionmetal@gmail.com
And please keep checking back often because you never know when we'll be announcing that next show!
We are trying to gear up and head into the studio and record some better versions of our songs, we know it's been kinda lame of us to have those little 4 track demos up, and we do have intentions of heading into the studio fo' real, maybe make a cd, or at least sell our tunes on Itunes and Amazon mp3. We'll keep you posted on this. Keep checking back!

Thanx!
