The Infernal Week Part 1 -  HIM in Glasgow

So, day one of  'The Infernal Week' started on Monday 10th with HIM at the Barrowlands.

I started off the day with some texts back and forward checking to see if we definitely had a last minute ticket for a friend of mine.We did  (thanks MP). So I met up with him in town and headed off the Claire's house where we'd been promised a cup of tea and some jaffa cakes. Once there we met up with Claire's friend Lou, had a bit of a chat then left for Glasgow.

I don't normally travel to Glasgow by car so was not exactly sure on directions once off the motorway but we made it with plenty of time to spare. Once we got there we joined the queue with Fiona and I met the lovely Storm for the first time. After spending a while in line we were also joined by Fiona's friend Natalie.

With fingers and toes starting to go numb they finally opened the doors and we all rushed in. Managed to do quite well and got onto the second row in between where Ville and Linde would be. Support band Kill Hannah came on and although not my thing, they were definitely very good at what the do and had many fans in the crowd. The singer came out in white jeans and from what we could see Burberry boxers - which by the way, he had on for all 3 shows that I saw and one more that I have been reliably informed about. The lasers on the guitars were, well I'm not sure if they were cool or tacky but the were something different anyway. They also did some filming of some of their set so obviously know how much fun a Glasgow crowd can be.

Anyway, Kill Hannah leave the stage and now all atention is focused on HIM coming out. The lights go down, intro music is played then the band com out starting with the opening riff for Passion's Killing Floor. Ville come out in time for the first line and I'm practically deafened by the screaming going on. Ville had his purple suit on and thankfully no grandad hat. I'd been hearing that he sounded so much better recently and it's definitely true. The band looked like they were having a blast. Lots of laughing and joking around and some playfull ribbing for Gas. Ville left stage twice to go for a fag - which was not surprising - and had another moan about the law. The Scottish Fangirls of SFGs as we are know had a litle present of a 'see you Jimmy' hat for Gas but when thrown it didn't reach the stage. Luckily we had back ups and they were taken to London. The set list was brilliant. Lots of  'classics' and a nice selection of new songs. Highlights for me were 'Sleepwalking Past Hope' and 'Funeral of Hearts'. It was really great to hear 'Sleepwalking' as it's around 10 mins long and how many band play songs like that live? 'Funeral' is just a really lovely song and they ended the night on it. The thing that really set it off was the discoball. It sounds tacky as Hell but was actually really lovely. Linde had been having trouble with his guitar all night (and not his broken finger!) but during 'Funeral' it gave up and he threw it away to get a new one. Queue Ville having a go at Gas for failing to notice and sotp playing. Apparently Ville is the leader of the band and Gas is just an animal in a cage!!

So that was it. Night one of 'The Infernal Week' was over. We got in the car and headed back to Edinburgh, where I got about 3 hours sleep before starting day two..... (which is coming as soon as I can be arse to write it up)
