The week that was...

Today was the end of an era... Neighbours is finished on BBC1 and is now moving to Five. Thankfully they are keeping it on at roughly the same times as it was on BBC, so I'll still get home early enough to catch it. Yes, I realsise how sad this sounds and how tacky the show is but that's what makes it so good! Just be pleased I'm not hooked on River City...

In other news, work has been interesting. Considering I'm a gardener I think I've done about two jobs that you could actually call gardening over the last week... We spent one day chucking leaf mulch over a few of the beds and then on Wednesday I got to lay some turf on the penguin lawn (and got caught skiving off to watch the penguin parade!). Luckily I'm quite enjoying all the other stuff. I'm not a trained gardener and do not thrive to be doing 'pure' gardening so I'm coping fine. Most of the week was spent on the building site (hard hat and everything) again doing a variety of things that need to be done before we can get in and do some landscaping. I do think though that at this rate I'll end up with arms like Popeye! I've spent the majority of the week dismantling and carrying scaffolding around, filling skips with hardcore/gravel from the side of the Budongo site and cracking a cement path with a pickaxe...

Tuesday we had an escape. A Barbary Macaque managed to get out from quarantine so the Zoo was evacuated and staff had to stay indoors. The Macaque is suspected to have had rabies so after escaping it was shot. Not a nice end to the story and I don't see how it had to be killed, but there you go...

I also managed to actually get inside the Budongo building where the plants I 'babysat' have been planted. The heating in there is still not right and a few of the plants have withered a bit but they should be ok with some TLC.

Out of work, I headed through to Glasgow to see Dark Tranquillity on Wednesday night. Met up with Fiona and had a few drinks then headed to the venue. It was a nice small place and the band were brilliant. They didn't play my favourite song but they played a very good set all the same. I'm still paying for the late night though...

I make myself get up - if I don't I find getting up when I have to is painful in the extreme!

How could I forget the discoball?!

I should also have added on the end of that blog that I plan on doing fuck all for the whole weekend. I'll be lucky if I even wake up and see any of it!

I refuse to comment on the tv thing - I think tv should be banned....but....work sounds good and fun, I'm not sure I'd be cut out for that kinda thing, but I'd love to give it a shot!  And you did forget one thing about the gig - cos both you and MP mentioned it to me....
