Itemised chaos

Ok, I feel the need for a moan/rant. It's not even over anything big but it pissed me off a little...

Yesterday I received my mobile phone bill for the last month. Nothing wrong with that, it wasn't a stupid price or anything. However they sent me a full itemised bill. So I got ten pieces of paper. The first two have the details of my account and a breakdown of the charges. The next eight pages are my itemised usage of texts! I had no idea they'd do all of that. They've seriously put down what time, to who and whether it's included in my free texts or not on the bill. I couldn't believe it, I'm not green by any stretch of the imagination but that's fucking ridiculous! The one thing I can be glad about is that at least they printed on both sides of the paper.

So after having a look on the internet, I found that I can switch to an e-bill. Done. Had to go looking for it mind. Not one mention of it on the actual bill. So there you have it, my one extra bit of enviro-friendly-ness.

I've no idea if all mobile companies send out this kind of bill on a regular basis but I hope they don't. Three Mobile, you have been outed. No more stupid bills please!

I don't know - a couple of paper bills are essential though, as you have to have paper bills, less than 3 months old, to prove your id and address sometimes....and with things like bank accounts, you have to have a couple of bills plus passport to set one up....and to sell your house you have to show passport and paper utility bills....crazy indeedie.

It wouldn't be so bad if the post were any good - but that is kinda crap too....if your bills don't arrive, someone can steal your identity....which is a shite situation to be in...It happened to a friend of mine and she couldn't get credit, pay by direct debit for 'leccy etc...pre-paid meters all the way...sucked.

You can't stop the paper bills?! Well that's fucking random. I wonder what the reasoning behind that one is...

T mobile do that too....plus a daily usage breakdown for my BlackBerry data allowance.  Plus as a registered disabled customer I can't stop the paper bills apparently (but I can get them in large type or braille).

My best thing so far was Egg who sent me 6 copies of an old bank statement (for an account I have closed.....).....dated 18th October 2007 - all of which arrived on Friday.

What pisses me off is that you have to shred this kind of thing nowadays, you can't just shove it in recycling.....and the recycling people won't take shredded paper, you have to take it to the composters....I have a black sack full of shreddies now, as I have been continuing my clear out, and I am going to have to take it for a four mile walk soon to the council compost heap...yay!
