The Rebel story!
I'm the proud owner of RebelTrax Recordings, guitarist and singer in the rock band Blucaine and the metal/punk band Blank Sight. Also checkout Rebeltrax Recordnings where i will publish songs recorded in the studio.
I started my musical career when I was 10 years old by playing the flute, but I soon discovered that the chicks were more found of the rockers than the guys playing classical songs on the flute. So I started to play the guitar and drums in a bunch of obscure punk and trash metal bands in the middle of the 80’s but got a bit more organized when we started the band Charles Hårfager in 89. The lineup then was Korven - bass (current band - The Accidents), Erik – guitar (current band - Millencolin), John – guitar and my self Rickard – vocals, flute, bassoon and drums (current bands – Blucaine and Blank Sight).
We started of by making a couple of demo tapes. The first on called “Den svenske mannen är en mes” and the second on called “Galningars lek”. By that time John had lost his interest in music and left the band. In 92 we recorded a self financed 7” single called “I svält och nöd” that later on was re-released by Stephan on Kamel records that’s a subdivision to Birdnest Records. All Charles Hårfager records except the first press of “I svält och nöd” is released on Kamel Records. Since I’m not a drummer and it didn’t work out that well on stage with a singing drummer we started to look around to find an additional member of the band. We asked Anders (current band Coldworker) that at the time were playing in Necrony and Nasum to assist us on the live appearances and he was interested, but it didn’t take long until he became a permanent member of the band and I started playing guitar and left the drumming to Anders.
In 94 the cd single “korpen faller” was recorded with our favourite sound technician Dan Swanö in Finspång. The quality of the song had now improved a lot with Anders on the drums and we were quite pleased with the 10 tracks on 18 minutes cds. Since Eriks other band Millencolin was starting to advance in the punk/HC scene and Erik was more into skate punk he left the band. Replacing him did Mieszko a friend of the band that at the time played in a Death Metal band called Shagidiel. More resent Mieszko also played in other successful bands e.g Nasum and Genoside superstars. (Mieszko tragically left us in the tsunami disaster 2004 may hi RIP). In 95 the cd “knapra och fly” was recorded. This album had more HC influences than the melodic punk tunes on the previous recordings. 96 the mcd “orden inom mig” was released. This album had more heavy pop influences and the band name was shortened to only Charles in order to obtain a more serious appearance of the band. This wasn’t the smartest move in history and the album sold quite bad. A while after the album had been recorded I injured my hand and wasn’t able to play guitar for a very long time so we engaged a new guitarist in the band. Magnus played in a pop band called Station wagon at that time (current band – Franky Lee). In 97 we divided the band since the band members were heading towards very different goals with our music and our record company (Kamel) did not have the budget to release a new album. So that we the end of the Charles Hårfager story.
In 97 Me and Magnus and some other guys started a new band called The Peepshows. In the beginning and on the first 7”-single released by T.Barth on speed demon 1000 I played bass and was singing the led vocals. On the second 7”-single that was a split with Puffball we had a new bass player and I were only doing the lead vocals.
I left Peepshows in early 98 and could now concentrate on my 2:nd band called Blucaine that had been rehearsing from time to time since 94 and recorded two demo tapes one in 94 and the 2:nd one in 95 and released an album in spring 97. In the early days the Blucaine line-up was Anton – guitar and vocals (current band – Charger 66,Peppe – bass and myself on drums. On the 2:nd demo tape Matte (current band – 2 Ton Predator) is playing the drums and I started to play lead guitar. In 98 Peter started as a drummer in Blucaine and Anton left the band. In 2001 a demo cd called “Rise up high” containing material from 99 to 2001 was released. Between 2001 and 2006 Blucaine have not been rehearsing that active due to several things but now we are on the go again with a newly build studio to rehearse and record in and a bunch of new songs. We plan our next release to be out before this summer in over. My other band that has been rehearsing from time to time is Blank Sight. In the beginning the band members were Anton on bass, Kalkoff – drums and I played guitar and vocals. Blank Sight started of as a metal-punk band and recorded some demos and contributed on a couple of cd’s with a bunch of other band. For a while Lidner a friend of the band played guitar and helped out to strengthen the bands live performances. Lidner also played guitar in Blucaine for a while in the late 90’s.
I started Rebeltrax Recordnings in 1998 and recorded my own projects as well as some bands that wanted to make a demo tape or just do a test recording before the entered some fancy studio. Over the years I’ve been located at several different locations around Örebro but in 2006 I started to build the current studio that’s up and running in the central parts of Örebro. So if you are interested in recording some groovy tunes don’t hesitate to contact me for some information and practical details.
So long and keep up the good work!
