uh oh, it's the 28th...
The One laptop per child project has released the first notebooks. For about 150 dollars per piece this could be an affordable pc for children in developing countries.
The picture above shows the wordprocessor of the system in an emulator. So far I couldn't get the f*cking network part going.

This might be the ultimate spam tool and a boost for child labour in developing countries. For a dollar per day they'll comment-spam your weblog to hell, despite the captcha and spamquiz. >>>article elsewhere<<<

Of course I know, the oldest child in the house is a Tiger like me....
@Renie: For Babette it's her 3rd child.
Hey Hallo!!!!

In English:
Hey Hello!!!! HELLO, are Frank and Babette the happy parents of their second child on the 28th of November? I thought that a little over a week ago when I did not get an answer when I phoned them. So I thought she was in the middle of the delivery and stayed in Eindhoven instead. I congratulated them at that time with something like: uhh, I think that I am the first one that.... uh.... my goodness Frank you are father again.
i have been aware of the projecs as well,
and specially like the mesh network - peer-to-peer concept,
to build an own network to later connect that to the internet
hpoe this will succeed
Maybe a bit too negative indeed.
I'm still finding out what can be done with this thing. So far I've seen a wordprocessor, a memory game, another game, a chat application, an rss-feed reader and a webbrowser (firefox). The last one of course gives access to much more.
As said, I'm still finding out about it, at first sight is more limited than I'd expected. But this looks promising.
Isn't that kinda negative, that last part? I think the OLPC project is awesome!
