My brother and I drove from Utrecht to Arlanda last Sunday. We started at 12:05 (pm - or in the middle of the day if you prefer) and arrived at Arlanda at 5:30 on the Monday morning. No sleep. Just driving. 1400 km is a long way, but having a great car (crimson metallic Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign from 1997) is the ultimate solution!
Route map
On our way, we passed these cities among others:
NL: Utrecht - Apeldoorn - Enschede
GER: Bremen - Hamburg - Lübeck - Puttgarden
DK: Rodbyhavn - Copenhagen
SE: Malmo - Helsingborg - Jonkoping - Stockholm - Arlanda
We stopped for food twice and for supplies two additional times. We "lost" one hour in Puttgarden waiting for the ferry, but spent the time by helping a Dutchman to get his car running (which had stopped in the long queue of cars). Well, being two gentlemen - we just had to help him.
Driving in 3 hour shifts was the perfect solution and time went by fairly quick even though I was a bit tired when I drove back from Arlanda to Stockholm after my brother has gotten on the plane to Oslo (Norway).
