Okay, since I've sadly neglected trig, I guess I'll make my first blog here. I'm getting all my ducks in a row to go back to Finland in July. I've fought the guilt demons and I'm going anyway. when will I ever get the chance to do something like this again?

I haven't made the plane reservations yet but I'll probably fly out of Philly around 5:40 on July 7, with a stopover in London and into Helsinki around 12:30pm on Sunday the 8th. I have reservations for Sokos Hotel Torni for Sunday to Wednesday. I'm still working on my list of what I want to see. namely that cemetary you went to Shari, the market square, the market hall, the rock church, the book store, maybe I'll look for lost and found too. then Wednesday afternoon I'll take the train to Tampere and check into Cumulus Koskikatu. it's right on the Tammerkoski (the river that runs thru the middle of town) On Thurday morning I'll meet up with my friend Jyrki and he'll show me all the sights. He's lived there his whole life so he'll know all the good stuff. There is one of those giant observation towers right on the lake and we'll definitely hit that. Friday morning we'll go to the two open air markets and then drive up to Tuuri for Miljoonarock. We'll stop at Seitseminen National Park on the way. it's an ancient forest and visitors center. HIM is headlining the festival but I also am looking forward to Neljä Ruusua. I discovered them thru the song Hunningolla and picked up quite a few of their cds while in Helsinki over New Years.

We'll drive back to Tampere after the concert then Saturday is undecided. probably try to catch some good bands around town. Tammerfest starts the Wedneday I get there and goes thru Sunday. Negative is the main band I want to see. with my luck they'll be playing friday! but hopefully it will be Saturday which could also be a problem cause Jyrki mentioned going to either his friends summer cottage near Tampere on Saturday for the evening or going to his own which is a couple hours drive away for the night and back to town on Sunday. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what band will be playing where and when before a decision is made. I've got some time before plans need to be set. I'd also like to see the 69 eyes again and Kotiteollisuus

the bands play at different times and at about 20 different places all over town and there are all kinds of other events taking place. it sounds like a lot of fun and I didn't even know about it when I started making plans. what a nice coincedence.

then take the train back to Helsinki on Sunday and stay somewhere near the train station  cause it will be an early flight out. hopefully do a little souvenir shopping then get some good sleep so I don't sleep all the way home again like last time. I was exhausted!    even a week isn't going to be enough! this country could be a problem, I'm wanting to spend way too much time there and I'm not independently wealthy....yet....gotta start playing the lottery as soon as the damn divorce is final! grrrr
