Many people that have a closer relationship with me, knows that there are three bands of my music Universe that are very important for me: Doors, HIM and Death. The first one is untouchable, and the other ones two.

Like the other fans, I would like to see, at least one time, all my favorite bands. Incredibly, I could see Doors at the end of their career, and it was for two years ago(the best live show I ever seen). Death is totally impossible(RIP Chuck). And so, HIM was missing. Last night was the opportunity to see them in Coliseum.

With new songs and new deco Stage, HIM have performed. – after the Band Cinemuerte performance ( that deserved better promotion). The sound was very good. Despite the micro had very “low spaces”( Ville has made many signs showing that). In this part, very good.

Talking about the music. They didn’t disappoint me! Very concentrated and professionals, all members have done an excellent job. And this fact, we could see during all performance.

But not only. Ville Valo doesn’t have the best voice of the world, but the voice he has, he knows very well how to use it. His deep voice and also in the shrill moments sounded very rocker.

The other Band members. Linde played some solos and one or two more daring, but always around of what was planed to play. Mige Amour showed the reason why he has a very important role in the band. Burton- extremely sympathetic, as always- have made a discreet performance, showed himself at the moments he was called. (For instance T"he Sacrament”)

Now, the Man of the Night was Gas. Sure, Ville is the Front man and all the attentions are for him, but no one have risked so much as Gas(and good), he was the kindest and the one that have talked more to the audience. He was the last one that leaved the stage, an I was a lttle bit sad that he has only played a little bit(solo), for the reason that for me he was the best musician on stage.

Special attention for “ Burried Alive By Love”, “The Sacrament” and very personally “Your sweet 666” and “ Soul on Fire”. The song “Play dead” was also very deep then the “light” version of the album. The concert was excellent, and some opinions from fans that have been in Coliseum, to see HIM before, said that this one was one of the best shows they have performed in Portugal.

Now, bad things or parts of the show that weren't so good. First, personally. I was a little bit disappointed because I didn’t listen some songs like “ Gone with the sin” or “ Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart”. Sure that I knew that they wouldn’t play them, but I missed that songs. Then, they didn’t play “ The funeral of Hearts”. This one I didn’t know that it wasn’t in the “Songs List”… I would have liked if they have played it, because is on of the greatest hits from the band.

Now, some serious critics.( the other were only tears of fan, that inside, felt that they wouldn’t make song list for him..) HIM are playing a cover from Black Sabbath, precisely the song “Black Sabbath”. They have played it before, but now, they are playing it more regularly. It is very good, very “gloomy”, Valo was very good and the music sounded HIM. However…It is not a very known song in the fans community! I don’t think that it was a good choice to finish the show(last night wasn’t the first one). For that, “ The Funeral of Hearts” is the best one and it would be sung by everyone.

Only two notes more.

One, the audience wasn’t very organized…when they leaved the stage for the first time, it has taken a little time, before the people start to call them to come back to the stage. Then, when they have played the songs that weren’t so known, we could see clearly that not everybody there were the true fans, (for me, fan is the one who knows, at least all the lyrics from the albums!) some of them only knew some refrains. And just one additional info, for the most curious people, I think that Coliseum was 80% of his capacity(receive people)…the audience in front of the stage was full and the Circles relative full of people. It’s not bad, but after, when in Spain they have two concerts sold out, we can see why they only come to Portugal one time in year….

Summarizing: Great Concert from one band that didn’t disappointed the fans an gave an example of professionalism (everyone), sympathy (everyone, especially Gas), maturity (everyone, especially Ville, more sober) and very very ..GAS!

É do conhecimento de muito pessoal que tem uma convivência profunda comigo que há três bandas no meu universo musical que são fundamentais: Doors, HIM e Death. Os primeiros são intocáveis, e as outras duas estão em pé de igualdade.

Como qualquer bom fã, gostava de ver as bandas pelo menos uma vez. Incrivelmente, consegui ver o que restava dos Doors, faz já 2 anos e meio quase (no melhor concerto que já fui). Death é totalmente impossível (RIP Chuck). Sendo assim, faltava-me HIM. Essa falta foi colmatada ontem no Coliseu.

Com um alinhamento de músicas e um cenário novos, os HIM subiram ao palco - após uma muito esforçada prestação de Cinemuerte (que mereciam uma maior promoção, já que ninguém sabia quem era a banda... aliás,a promoção do concerto foi um dos poucos aspectos que pecou) - e o som estava bastante bom. Assim se manteve, embora o micro tivesse a espaços demasiado baixo (Ville várias vezes apontou para esse factor). Neste capítulo, muito bom.

Quanto à música... não me defraudaram! Bastante concentrados e profissionais, todos os membros cumpriram exemplarmente. Aliás, o profissionalismo de todo o concerto foi algo que se notou bastante. Mas não só. Ville Valo não tem a melhor voz do mundo, mas a que tem sabe usá-la muito bem. Graves bastante profundos e os agudos foram sempre mais rockeiros do que propriamente em falsete.

O resto da banda. Linde cumpriu, com um solo ou outro mais arrojado, mas sem sair muito do "planeado". Mige Amour mostrou o porquê de na maioria do trabalho da banda ser pedra fulcral. Burton - bastante simpático, como é hábito - teve uma prestação mais modesta, mas mostrou-se à altura nos momentos em que foi chamado à ribalta ("The Sacrament", só de repente). Agora, o homem da noite foi Gas. Claro, o Ville é o frontman e atrai as atenções, mas nenhum arriscou mais (e bem), foi mais simpático e comunicou tanto com o público do que o baterista de HIM. Foi o último a deixar o palco e tive pena que só se tivessem ouvido meia dúzia de "Gas", já que para mim, foi o melhor músico em placo.

Destaque para "Buried Alive By Love", "The Sacrament" e muito, muito pessoalmente "Your Sweet 666" e "Soul On Fire". A balada "Play Dead" também foi bastante mais intensa do que a sua versão levezinha do álbum. O resto das músicas, foi sempre bastante bem tocada e os HIM deram um excelente concerto para quem teve no Coliseu (e segundo testemunhas de anteriores visitas, foi mesmo o melhor espectáculo desde à bastante tempo em Portugal).

Agora, partes más. Primeiro, a nível pessoal. Tive pena de não ouvir nenhuma daquelas baladas brutais de HIM, como por exemplo, "Gone With The Sin" ou "Bury Me Deep Inside Your Heart". Claro, eu sabia que eles não iam tocar, mas mesmo assim. Depois, não terem tocado "The Funeral Of Hearts". Esta não sabia que ia faltar... gostava que tivessem tocado porque é um dos grandes temas da banda.

Agora, a crítica mesmo mais a sério (as outras são lamentos de fã, que no fundo sabe que não iam fazer um alinhamento para ele...). Os HIM têm tocado uma cover de Black Sabbath... precisamente a música "Black Sabbath". Já tocavam antes, mas agora é regular. Está muito boa, muito "doomy", Valo bastante bem e adaptada ao som da banda. Mas... não é uma música muito conhecida entre os fãs! Não acho que seja a ideal para fechar concertos (ontem não foi a primeira vez). Para isso, "The Funeral Of Hearts" serve muito melhor e seria cantada por todos.

Só mais duas notas.
Uma, o público ser um pouco desorganizado... quando eles sairam a primeira vez de palco demorou-se um bocado até haver uma organização do pessoal a chamá-los. Depois, nas músicas menos conhecidas, via-se claramente que nem todos eram fãs verdadeiros (para mim fã é aquele que sabe, pelo menos, as letras todas dos álbuns!) e que só se lembravam de alguns refrões. Já agora, para os curiosos, acho que o Coliseu estava a 80% da sua capacidade... a plateia quase cheia e as bancadas razoavelmente compostas. Não é mau, mas depois quando em Espanha há dois concertos esgotados, percebemos porque é que eles cá só vêm uma por ano...

Depois, o cenário. Quatro candeeiros antigos a subir e a descer, bem à frente de um heartagram sempre a mudar de cor. Bastante vistoso e deu outro encanto ao concerto.

Resumindo: Grande concerto de uma banda que não desiludiu os fãs e deu um exemplo de profissionalismo (todos), simpatia (todos e em especial o Gas), amadurcimento (todos e em especial o Ville sóbrio) e muito muito... GÁS!

Am Potsdamer Platz, wo die Stars der Berlinale vorbeiglitzern, haben sich HIM, ganz standesgemäß, im Hyatt eingemietet. Es ist eine der ersten Stationen der Finnen auf ihrer aktuellen Tour quer durch Europa. Dazu hatten sie tags zuvor einen freien Tag. Entsprechend entspannt, freundlich und auskunftsfreudig gibt sich der inzwischen abstinent lebende Frontmann Ville Valo beim Plausch mit den beiden Powermetal.de-Schreibern Yvonne Daseking und Henri Kramer.

Henri:
Hi Ville. Schön dich hier in Berlin zu sehen. Wie viele Interviews waren es denn heute?

Ville:
Vier oder fünf Stück waren es schon. Aber das macht nichts, das ist locker.

Yvonne:
Ist es denn für euch etwas Besonderes, wenn ihr hier in Berlin spielt?

Ville:
Ja, eigentlich schon. Denn bei einer unseren ersten Trips nach Deutschland haben wir hier oft Silke besucht, die später unsere Managerin wurde. Sie hat in Kreuzberg gewohnt. Bei ihr haben wir oft rumgehangen und sind durch Clubs wie das "Silver Wings" und das "Wild at Heart" gezogen. Silke wohnt inzwischen in Finnland.
So an sich ist mir Berlin ein wenig zu groß. Und mittlerweile kommen wir auch nicht mehr dazu, uns hier umzuschauen: Wir fahren rein in die Stadt und wieder raus, sehen das Hotel und die Konzerthalle. Heute müssen wir nach der Show nach Mannheim fahren, 650 Kilometer weit. Da bleibt nicht viel Zeit.

Yvonne:
Ihr tourt also nach wie vor mit dem Tourbus?

Ville:
Ja, das ist wie früher. Es ist bequemer in den Bussen - und nach dem Gig kann man sich einfach hinlegen. Das ist besser als erst ins Hotel zu gehen, weil wir dort ja auch nur vier, fünf Stunden schlafen könnten. Den Tag verbringen wir im Hotel und entspannen uns. Generell sind natürlich Reisen in Europa einfacher, hier brauchst du immer nur einen Tag. In den USA ist das anders - da fährt man auch einmal länger.

Yvonne:
Also ist es schon anders als in euren Anfangszeiten?

Ville:
Natürlich, damals haben wir ja auch nur in Finnland gespielt. Und dort gibt es nur an den Wochenenden Konzerte, sonst geht keiner hin - unter der Woche waren wir also zu Hause.

Yvonne:
Da kommen wir zu eurer Geschichte. Zwischen eurem ersten Album "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666" und jetzt liegen etwa zehn Jahre. Beschreibe doch einmal kurz diese Zeit.

Ville:
Viel Durcheinander, haha. Es gab natürlich neben den Erfolgen viel Ärger. Außerdem sind wir immer öfter immer weiter herumgereist. Das schlaucht, wir waren oft müde. Außerdem ist so ein Leben auch wegen der Familien nicht einfach, die zu Hause warten.

Yvonne:
Ihr habt also oft Heimweh?

Ville:
Während wir auf Tour sind, haben wir Heimweh und wenn wir wieder daheim sind, kommt das Fernweh, wieder auf Tour zu sein. Ein schlimmer Kreislauf, haha.

Henri:
Und was habt ihr in den zehn Jahren gelernt?

Ville:
Hmm. Ich weiß nicht, was ich darauf nun antworten soll. Auf jeden Fall ist die Angst weg, die als Teenager noch da war. Wir können besser schlafen.

Yvonne:
Und wie ist es für euch, die Songs von damals heute auf der Bühne zu spielen - damals, als ihr sie geschrieben habt, wart ihr ja wohl in einer Gemütslage als nun? Wie fühlen sich die alten Stücke also an, wenn ihr sie spielt?

Ville:
Oh, das ist, als würde man mit seiner Ex schlafen, haha. Das sind sehr gemischte Emotionen, die da hochkommen. Aber die Songs an sich verändern sich mit der Zeit mit uns. Außerdem findest du auf der Bühne jedes Mal etwas Neues, wenn du sie spielst. Aber es ist schon wahr, du siehst sie aus einem anderen Blickwinkel.

Yvonne:
In der Vergangenheit habt ihr einige Coversongs aufgenommen. Es gab auch zuletzt eine sehr erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit mit der deutschen Schauspielerin Natalia Avelon. Kannst du dir vorstellen wieder in Zusammenarbeit mit jemandem zum Beispiel NICK CAVE zu covern?

Ville:
An sich schon. Aber mich fragt ja keiner.

Henri:
Ok. Und wie sehen eure nächsten Zukunftspläne aus?

Ville:
Nach unserer Tour jetzt durch Europa brechen wir zu einer anderen Konzertreise auf, die uns durch Australien und Neuseeland führen wird. Dann ist Sommer und Festivalzeit. Haben wir das geschafft, werden wir beginnen an neuem Material zu schreiben.

Henri:
Fassen wir die Zukunftspläne einmal weiter: Wo seht ihr euch in zehn Jahren?

Ville:
Das lässt sich natürlich nicht wirklich beantworten. In zehn Jahren kann sehr viel passieren. Aber ich denke, wir als Menschen bleiben im Grundsatz gleich, nur die Prioritäten verschieben sich. Sollte es HIM nicht mehr geben, hoffe ich aber, dass alle aus unserer Band die guten Erinnerungen an unsere Zeit behalten, und es nicht bereuen in der Band gewesen zu sein. To be or not to be (...wie Hamlet schon sagte... - Anm. der Red.)

Yvonne:
Zurück zum Hier und Jetzt. Wie probt ihr eigentlich?

Ville:
Das kommt ganz drauf an. Für ein neues Album proben wir schon so drei bis vier Monate. Obwohl das natürlich nicht so ist, dass wir jetzt jeden Tag in unserem Übungsraum stehen - wir haben eben keinen Bürojob. Aber es ist zum Beispiel nicht mehr nötig, dass wir Songs wie 'Wicked Game' noch zum tausendsten Mal proben. Solche Stücke proben wir im Endeffekt, wenn wir live auf der Bühne stehen. Konzerte zu spielen ist eh das Beste.

Yvonne:
Zum Ende dieses Interviews: Ich weiß es ist eine merkwürdige Frage: In Deutschland hält sich das Klischee über Finnen, sie gehen gerne in die Sauna. Was sagst du dazu?

Ville:
Hmm, dazu kann ich gar nicht so viel sagen. Ich habe zwar eine Sauna zu Hause, mag das aber eigentlich nicht so. Gas, unser Schlagzeuger, mag es sehr, in die Sauna zu gehen.. Ich gehe lieber lange baden - gestern lag ich vier Stunden in der Wanne. Aber mit den Klischees über Finnland ist das sowieso so eine Sache: Ich bin Vegetarier, hasse Rentiere und mag kein Skispringen.

Henri:
Ok, hast du noch ein paar letzte Worte an die Leser von Powermetal.de?

Ville:

HENRI: Hello Ville. Glad to see you in Berlin. How many intervews have you done today?

VILLE VALO: Four or five. But it's ok, it easier to do it.

YVONNE: Is it something special for you, to perform here in Berlin?

VILLE VALO: Yes, it is. Because, during one of our first trips in Germany, we have visited Silke, who some time later would be our Manager. She lived in Kreuzberg. With her, we travel a lot and went to several clubs as the " Silver Wings" and the "Wild Heart".

Silke had a lso a home in Finland. For me Berlin is a little big. And we don'tgo there so many times as befor. We visit Berlin, and all the time is passed between the Hotel and the Club or place where we are going to perform. Today we must go to Mannheim, 650 km far away from Berlin. So the time is short.

Yvonne: So you travel as befor with you TOUR BUS?

Ville Valo: Yes, it's like the beginning. It is more confortable, and after the gig/show, we can simply rest there. Is it better then the Hotel room, because there, we have only five hours to sleep.

The day is passed in the Hotel, where we can relex. Most of the times thetravels through europe are easier, we need only one day free, to get energy for the next performance. In USA, it diferent,our travels are much longer.

Yvonne: So, now is deferent than when you began?

Ville Valo: Yes, at the beginning, we have performed only in Finland, And there, Concerts happens only at the weekends, in order to have audience. During the week we stay at Home.

Yvonne: Back to your History, Between your first albun "Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666" and now, 10 years have passed. Describe shortly this time.

Ville Valo: Haha..a lots of ups and dawns... There was a lot of dificulties and hanger side by side the success. On one hand, we were always traveling and far away from home, we were often tired, our life is not easier, on other hand because our families, who are waitimg for us at home.

Yvonne: So.. you have a "patriotic soul")

Ville Valo: While we are on Tour, we have the "patriotc soul", when we are back home, we want to start a new tour/to be on tour.

It is a bad heartake haha.

Henri: And what have you lernt in ten years?

Ville Valo: Umm, I don't know, what I should answer about that. For sure, is the fear, that was there, when I was a teenager, now we can sleep better.

Yvonne: And how is for you to play the songs, that you have written at the beginning, how do you feel, while you are performing/ singing the old ones?

Ville Valo: Oh, it's like sleeping with an Ex (girlfriend) haha. There is a mix of feelings, that comes up. But the songs have changed with teh Time with us.

And when you are on stage performing, you have always a diferent experience, you feel always something new. But is true, you see the songs with a diferent way.

Yvonne: In the Past, you have some coveredsongs, and recently, there is one, very famous, with a german actress Natalia Avelon. Can imagine yourself working again with another person, for instance, Nick Cave?

Ville Valo: Ya, but noone ask me to do it.

Henri: How do you see your future palns?

Ville Valo: After our Europe tour we will have another Tour through Australia and New Zeland, Dann is the Summer and the Festival time. We will start to write new material.

Henri: Talking about Future Plans again, when you will be in ten years?

Ville Valo: We can't really answer that question. Many things can happen in ten years. I thinks that we, as human being, will be the same, only the priorities may change. HIM won't be a band, I hope that all of the band members, will have good memories of the HIM Band time and don't yhink what could be happened if we didn't finnish it.( To be or not to be)

Yvonne: Back to here and now. How do you test, practice?

Ville Valo: We test/practice about four or five months for a new albun, of corse , songs as "wicked game", that we have tested tousand times, we don't have to test it again. We don't have a " Office Job", some of the songs we test it on the stage live. Is the best thing we can do.

Yvonne: To finish this Intervew: I know that this is a peculiar question: In Germany, there is a "Klischee", that Finnish Peolple like to use Sauna a lot. What do you think about it?

Ville Valo: Humm, I don't have much to say about it, I have one at home, but I don't like it like most of people think. Gas, our drummer, like to be in the sauna a lot. I like more to be in the badroom,

But with the "Klischees", about Finland is like "I am vegetarian, hate Renas and Ski"

About Ville's smoking,that he can smoke in the restaarants too although there are some prohibition, because he has some licence for it :-D (really he said it)...and he is critizing that smoking leaves the american films.

About time of this concert.If they would start before midnight or after...
then the moderator was asking them for how can they see the future if in the selling of albums or in concerts?And Ville said that it is important too when the radios play them,that they make the merchandise too and now they have big tour so this is some advertisment for them too...Ville said they are as mobile caravan :-D

1. In one of your apearences on Youtube, you said that "Dark Light"was for sentimental young women and for heavy Rockers" For whom did you write "Venus Doom"?

Ville Valo: I imagine that is for Gay public in general(laughing)

2.Do you belive that in this albun, guittars have a particular role, more important? are they the "stars" from the songs?

Ville Valo: There are more instrumental parts, more "riffs" with Balack Sabbathinfluence, but I don't believe that they are the most important , there are the keabords, back vocals and the lead singer's voice..

3 Is the albun, the way you found to make some therapy?, a strategy to kill all gohsts from the past?

Ville Valo: Yes, I would say that is something like a "plastic cirurgy", because it is a "refinery process" I s also like have a role.

4. What is your idea /concept of perfect happiness?

Ville Valo: I believe that happyness is overvalued, I don't believe in a absolut concept of happyness. People are to much worried about it, trying to find happyness withought feeling that time runs faster and the "key" is to be happy with what we have at every moment.

You don't need to walk around and around.(trying to find it)

5. What is the thing that you are more afraid of? Do you think about it?

Ville Valo: No, I don't think much about my fears. If I would have to say one, it would be.... overcome death.

6. So.... you don't talk about your fears in your songs.?

Ville Valo: I talk about a deferent fear. There are tousands of ways to describe fear. The same happens with love.

There are many types of fear, the type that I talk about in my songs is the existencial fear, the irracional from the existence.

7. Who is the person live, that you admire the most?

I admire my father, my mother, my friends but I don't consider anyone a perfect idol, the only one, I don't believe that there is something or someone so perfect that we could put them/him/her in a pedestal. We can say that I don't have famous idols.

8. Is there something in you, that you don't apreciate that much?

Ville Valo : Nothing

9. What is the most important quality?

(silence, don't know, don't answer)

10. What is the talent that you would like to have ?I would like to dedicate myselfto recuperate the beauty of the olf furniture, handwork facinates me, to be a specialist in such things , it wouldn't be bad..

I don't mind to be a cook . I was good in kitchen but I never had time to put in practice seriously.

11. How are you feeling now? What is happening inside your head ?

Iam waitng for... I don't know what will happen with the albun, we have put many expectations (we have many illusions about) in it. At the momment the sells from the first weeks are becaomming higher than we thought. We can say that I am happy, but also nervous.

As HIM was getting ready to embark on their massive US TOUR, days after the release of their latest albun, Venus Doom, I was able to sit down and talk with the band's frontman Ville Valo. I've done more then a few intervews in my life, but I've never felt so touched by the person I was talking to.

Ville Valo's intelligent and witty way with words, as well as his thought process, really leaves an impact-

What follows is one of the most genuine and heartfelt intervews I have ever had the honor to conduct.

Pixie: Congratulations on debuting at #12 on the billboard with the new albun Venus Doom

Ville Valo : thank you.

Pixie: Were you expecting that kind of success to happen?

Ville Valo: Well...no.Obviously we were hoping to get higher on the charts with Dark Light, but you never expect anything to happen. That would be terrible, and a pain in the ass expect too much.That 's the best way, and the easiest way , to ruin a day, expect anything to happen. We just go with the flow and hope for the best . But we 're super psyched about it. That, and the ticket sales being really good for the upcoming tour. We can't wait to get over there.

Pixi:e How are you dealing with all the new fans, with the new influx after the success of the single and Project Revolution?

Ville Valo: Well .. we have been playing music since we were less then ten years old and my first gig that I got paid for was more then 15 years ago. It was in a small pub and I got, meybe twenty dollars. Since then , it's been a long way and a lot of hard work, so I am really happy we have made it so far.

I'm just happy about the hole thing. We spent a lot of time and energy on the whole thing. We fucking wept and laughed and bled all we could with Venus Doom, so I'm really glad we're finally grabbing some attention for it.

Pixie: You deserve it. The albun is amaizing.What inspired the sound? Some songs are very hard - sounding.

Ville Valo: Well.. you know the albun before, it was really straightforword and would even call it "polished", production-wise, at least. That was we wanted to do at the time. After we were touring that albun for a year, a year and a half, we got bored with that kind of stuff and wanted to try out something different and a bit more challenging. A more in your face kind of sound with extended songs.We want a little bit more music in there. It was a chellenge for us, but we were happy , we accomplished everything we wanted to with the new albun. We were also listening to a lot of Black Sabbath . So they are the ones to blame. If somebody doesn't like the new album? It's all Black Sabbath's fault.

Pixie: They could thank them as well..Either way.

Ville Valo: Well, you know , I'm a big fan. They are one of the main reasons we atrted this whole band back in the day. We were listening a lot of Sabbath, as well as Monster Magnet and Type O Negative and going back to the roots of bands that influenced us in the beginning.That 's why it's a little bit more of doom of gloom album. It felt natural to do something ...meybe the write word would be ..dangerous? It'sa bit more spooky and creepy. I like my music like I like my women.

Pixie: Youl know you look a little bit Unhappy!

Ville Valo: It doesn't fit with our music. It just takes away so much from the mystical, whatever you want to call it..the moodiness of the whole performance. In the sun we're acting what we can be in the dark club with the lights and audience being really close.I'm not complaining ... we had a great time

That's where I feel more at home I'm not complaining ...we had the opportunity to play to a lot of people that didn't know who we were , all the gigs were good . But I'm anxiously awaiting for our own shows,

Pixie: I think that's so funny because you guys, Placebo, My Vhemical Romance, all looked so out of pace in the sun. And you had on all this clothing..it looked painful.

Ville Valo: It was fucking wierd! We haven't payed in a years and occasionally, it might to be good, but I'm not a big fan from tans and I don't like to be tanned up. And it was way too hot . Again I'm not complaining...it was a great experience for the band and we had fun . But it was wierd. A lot of our songs are very long and we only had 40 minutes , so we only had time to play 9 songs per day, then travel 500 or 600 miles to the next city. We were used to playing five nights in a row, doing an hour and 20 minutes every night in the dark and moody club. It was deffenitly different.

Pixie: So do you have some expectations for your headlining tour?

Ville Valo: As I was saying before, about expectations and all..lets just say that I'm hoping that everybody in the band is going to be well, noboby is going to be feverish and«ill though the tour.- which usually happens when everybody is travelling in the same bus with germs fluing about and all that I don't know to expect . I'm hopping to see some new faces and just play some good gigs.

It's great to be touring a new album.The new songs are pretty good live. I never know what to expect.

I'm going to be as surprised as the audience ..I guess

Pixie: That's good though. So when you spend so much time in US what do you miss the most about home?~

Ville Valo: Well you know we haven't seen a lot of US. Usually, when you're on tour you drive into the city, play the gig and hop into the bus to do the same again, a couple of nights ina row

You don't have the chance to see that much . So basically the only places I know are LA and New York. Ihaven't time to explore all the cities and restaurants yet. But is agood reason to come back.

I like countries that are multi-cultural.It makes it fascinating because everybody has a diferent story to tell. The architecture is interesting and very diferent from Europe.

The whole cultural change is like a fresh breeze. It's great.

Pixie: You guys have really dedicated fans too, Lot of Heartagram tatoos, things like that, But what the crasiest thing a fan has done to show their love of your band?

Ville: Well .. it depends how you define "craziest". As you said , a lot of people who like what we do tend to be very loyal and dedicated. I have had a great chats and conversations with a lot of people, but we haven't really met a lot of nutcases.

Pixie:Then you will have crasy fans asking to sign your own cock, you rialize?

Ville Valo: well, it wouldn't take much time, since we won't name them. It wouldn't be some guesswork as to which one is which. Except for Burton's . He's got the biggest cock in the band

You had the Plaster Caster back in the day, so it wouldn't be so diferent.

Pixie:Do you have anything that you would like to say to the fans?

Ville Valo: Oh my God.It's the thoughest question in the world.

Pixie: is it?

Ville Valo: Well I would like to see people treating eachother with respect. And never forget their parents . Reading asa much as they can. Not being stuck logged on the internet 24/7 days . You can do it a bit, but go out! Enjoy the sunshine while you can.Because life unfortunatly, has to end some at point.

Pixie: Waw, Family is very important for you isn't it?

Ville Valo: I'm really glad to have great parents, who are really proud of what I do . We respect eachother and they are a fun couple. They have been together for a long time 36/37 years married.

They are a very good exemples. My daddy has a sex shop for me to get in touch with tem as much as possible.

Pixie: You have mentioned your father's sex shop more then once, is it a taboo in Finland?

Ville Valo: What do you mean?

Pixie:well, people here can be a little bit uptight about sex, in general, but when it comes to sex shops, there are a lot of restrictions, They can't be within certainn proximity to schools, churches, diferent places..

Ville Valo: Oh .. really? I didn't know it. I thought that they were pretty liberal when it cames to all of that. But my parents are pretty liberal. I wasn't baptized when I was born . My parents thought that I must believe in church to be baptized, and decide myself.

Pixie: As a funny story, your band got me in trouble witha former neighbor. I had a heartagram in my door and the woman brock it and moved out because she was affraid of it and claimed that I was a satanist.

Ville Valo: well that's the same as to go to Nepal and claim that they are Nazis because you see Swastikas everywhere. In Nepal there are symbols of spirituality and all good things and good luck.

It's wierd to know that one symbol can be interesting in so diferent ways by so many diferent people.

Poeple shoul d read more or get a little more educated.

Pixie:Not everybody wants to be. I don't think . you know the saying "ignorance is a bliss"? I think many people want to live that way-

Ville Valo: Well, they probibly say that to make excuses for saying someone is satanic or Bullshit like that

Pixie: You're very well read, aren't you? What have you been reading lately?

Ville Valo: I'm readding a stunning book called... actually I'm reading several books at the same time, but the one I just started is called "I have the write to destroy myself" by Young-ha, kim, and another called "Rat scabies and the holy Grail", which is about the drummer from The Damned looking for the Holy Grail in France" It's like a "Punck rock Da Vinci Code" Very funny and Intertaining.

Pixie: Well thank you so much. I feel we have a lot . I think you spreed a very positive message, encouraging people to read and love...it's really good.

Ville Valo:well, ity's a strat. Life is never easy. But is good to know that as hard as it is. It is just as hard to everybody.There's always somebody feeling at least as horrible as you do.

Pixie;:that's the beauty of the music, isn't it?It's where people find the most solace. I think that they say that is music adn then animals confort people the most.

Ville : Could be...

Pixie:Generally , both couldn't turn your backs on you and loves you noo matter what. They are there always for you.

Ville : Music and Animals, oh come on! I mean you must have to trust people as well, Otherwise you will turn into a jaded bastard and that's a future that nobody wants to see for themseves.People are people. Fucking Hell. That's what Depeche Mode sang about back in the days right? people are bastards but they are lovely bastards
