it has been a year since that dreaded building reopened - it had been closed for remodelling - and it even as a small shopping centre now! how ironic is it that one of the first stores to open there was actually a toy store?
it baffles us to see certain people attend to such so called "shows" where there are animals being tortured and still call themselves animal lovers because they treat their pedigree pet dogs very well... swell.
moreover it shocks us beyond imaginable to see how they make a point in taking their little children to such events. is it reasonable to introduce "entertainment" to small infants in such manners? how can you explain to such a child that he or she cannot torture cats, or behead frogs for laughs? you can't.
bullfighting is a sad memory of a time when portugal was a pitoresque country, filled with bucolic mediterranean exotism. a time when more than half of our citizens couldn't read or write... still the supportibg lobbies claim it to be a cultural tradition and the only way to preserve the bull from extinction. of course it is.
the protest, albeit its small attendance, was extremely vigorous, never a silence being heard for more than 10 seconds along two hours.
despite the shouting and slogan chanting, 7 bulls were killed in the aftermath of that "show", for what? the enternaiment of some.
well, fuck that shit then, bring back the circus maximus and let us all have some galdiator shows!
