we just loved barcelona! what a great city! well... we didn't got much around it - we went more up and down the barri gótic and raval - but what we saw surely impressed us.

when we got there we had one need: grab a bite, and there were plenty of options for us veggie folks in bcn. after that we headed to our nice room at the barri gótic (everyone said it was a "dangerous" neighbourhood but we saw nothing unusual).

architechtonically speaking, the old city is just awsome - at least for those who are fond of medieval architecture like ourselves - plenty of buildings, churches or plain intricate streets that open up to plazas, discreet entries to cloisters... you name it and barcelona will surely have it.
we admit that we didn't pay much attention to the great gaudí for, well, for being so modernista, we guess we were not so into it as into old bricks. we did saw the sagrada familia that, then again, has that medieval sense of building: titanic and everlasting. seen at close makes us feel insignificant.

the people at barcelona also seemed great to us; the official greeting "ola" sounds extremely familiar to us portuguese and maybe that's it... it is very cosy to hear a stranger saying "ola" putiing on a smile [we say cosy because in portuguese the same greeting would have been the formula "olá, bom dia (or boa tarde, boa noite depending on the time of the day)" being the simple "olá" reserved to more intimate acquaintances... a thought].

in the overall, and we won't go into detail on this, barcelona is a very civilized city. and we mean this in the best of senses: barcelona is an example to follow in many aspects.
again, we loved it!
