We all like to think of ourselves this way. I at least make it an ideal

How we spend our time on the short arc between life and death must form a great part of the answer to the question "what is the meaning of life". I enjoy spending much of that time contemplating what I do with that time. I enjoy my essential and uniquely human capability of being aware of my awareness.

Awareness is the precursor to choice. Freedom of choice is the most important ingredient in a successful usage of our time on that great arc. Who you are, and what you make of your life is a product of these choices. So why not be aware.
