Acceptable Stupidity

Sadly, I really don't think "common sense" is that common anymore. It seems as though the overall intelligence of people is slowly diminishing, day by day. And what's worse, it also seems like nobody else has a problem with this occurrence.

Whatever happened to survival of the fittest... or only the strong survive? Now I do understand that there are certain people with distinct
disabilities, and as a civilized people, we should help to accommodate
them. I'm talking about everyday people who can hear, speak, see, and
move like the rest of us, who just don't seem to care about themselves.

I personally think that a society has developed where it is acceptable
to be stupid. It's easier that way for the few who are in charge to
control everything that goes on. If we started paying more attention to
detail and being more aware of our surroundings, we as a people would
be more apt to realizing how poorly this country is being run and do
something about it.

Education levels are at an all time low. You have individuals who are graduating from high school who still cannot read. Most teachers don't seem to care about their students like they used to. Not only are standards not being upheld, it's constantly being lowered so that everyone feels normal, when they are really sub par.

This in turn, creates a shortage in competent and knowledgeable people overall, including the business and economic fields. This means that companies have to make exceptions and/or lower their standards for employment, just to fill slots.

Therefore, it creates a society where stupidity is acceptable. People don't seem to care because they can get a job somewhere, right? Laziness and a lack of motivation are the real problems. Stupidity is just a result thereof. If we hold each other and ourselves to a high standard instead of making exceptions, we will be more motivated to achieve something better.

People need to start taking responsibility for their actions. Do not label anyone as a victim of society, they only chose to be. Everything in life is a choice. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can start making the right ones.
