Miss Yesterday?

I sure as hell do, anyway. I miss it all. especially the music. I don't think it a case of me just getting old when I say that the music of yesterday had more life in it then the stuff on the radio today. I love lots of new music but you'll never hear it on the radio, well hardly ever.

So what's the deal with this new tune? I know, I know. It sounds like Prince, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson sat down for a jam and some tea.

I say why not.

It's long over due. Am I the only one sick of bands that stick with the same style until  the fourth album? And by then it just seems silly when they pull something new on you.

Anyway this one came out the vault, from way back. Back when I was just learning how to play guitar. At least the riff did. It's the happiest song this band has produced .

Hope you enjoy

Well yeah,  I guess one really does have to take all of these other factors into consideration as to why a band might go into a big giant tank after a strong beginning.

I mean I can relate with just trying to pay enough attention to my own creative impulses and I'm just your everyday person. It's easy in my situation to set the creative endeavors for other more "important" things.

I guess what happens for me though after a while is I can't keep shuttin it down. I start to get  a little nuts.

hmm, this is a very good point. And it's something I think most bands and artists in general are guilty of. I think it stems from the fact that an artist only has so much to say, really. And after that first album, those first 9 - 12 spurts of expression there is really nothing else left. Of course this don't bode well when one is trying to build a career.
Also when and band or artist finds fame I'm sure it changes everything. How does one stay creative when their world all of a sudden becomes  so safe and secure?

    Thanks loglost999

In response to the same old style question. I think some of the more disappointing experiences have been around bands who produced a phenomenal first CD  or single then change to some other kind of style and stick to THAT forever...Here's one example. Stain'd. Now their first well-played release was "Mudshovel". That song ROCKED and the rest of the CD, well I could play it. Their second CD release was way more toned down and they had a couple of ballads that went over pretty well. But after that there was nothing ever again that came from that band that had the TEETH that "Mudshovel" had. Stain'd come on in the car the other day with some supposed "new" stuff and I could only take about 4 seconds of that...well... whatever it is and I just shut it off.

Now another not so extreme example is Pearl Jam. They have made a ton of great music over the years but nothing comes close to the sound and feeling to their debut "TEN". Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of stuff Pearl Jam has done that I love but it was never the same as the first release.

So what do you make of that, with "that" being bands producing these phenonemal first releases FOLLOWED by something really different that stays different?
