One nocturnal walk I saw a small sign that said “Magic Castle.” I found a candle-lit cobbled lane and followed it. Along the path I started to see a new knowledge of resilience and fortitude, beauty in ugliness, met crusaders of peace and compassion, miracle workers, artists and visionaries, and held a vastness of infinity beyond what is time. I was led to a black iron gate which was locked shut. I peered inside to see a secret garden and the castle hidden behind trees…I knew it was my home.
What would happen if we took the time to sit in the grass, close our eyes and feel it between our toes? Smell it. Listen to the branches and leaves create music-take time to breathe-actually FEEL the air expand in your lungs. Feel it and rejuvenate your body, clear your mind. Don’t hold back thoughts-let your mind wander and explore. Become and believe in your imagination. Set your own boundaries because they make YOU happy. Make an effort to add spontaneity to your life. It’s amazing how great it feels to be a little uninhibited. Dance in the rain. Write your autobiography, and feel each word as you write it as if it were a picture of your life. Become a scientist in your own right. Don’t be afraid to experiment and explore. Put yourself out there, and try new things. Believe in miracles because they truly do happen every day. Love passionately, hate wisely, and accept everyone for who they are. Open your world to new cultures and respect them because they are so different. Learn. Let your mind wrinkle up with information. Sing in the shower. Let the water run down your face, and belt it out! Look at the stars. Listen to rainfalls. Turn off all the lights and light a candle, make rituals. Love your family and friends with every ounce of your being and let them know it. Embrace change and growth. Write, talk, play, dance, learn from the past, travel as much as you can. RELAX, stretch in the morning. Love women because they aren’t male, and love men because they aren’t female. We are attracted to the opposite sex because they possess great qualities that are different from our own. Remember that everyone loves attention-it can get you far. Cry hard-it usually brings an unusual peace in the end. Sleep. Sleep all day in fact. Have breakfast in bed, read in bed, make love in bed. Do anything in bed because it is usually fun! Throw your watch away-your life isn’t one big time constraint. Dress up! Wear jeans and a sweatshirt all day and just be yourself. Get dirty. Go skinny dipping in the ocean at night. Feel how your body suddenly feels free in the water, Natural. Run-like you used to when you were little-as fast as you can, with your arms open to the world. Embrace genuine nerves, and conquer fears. Remember that getting your heart broken is always a learning experience, and no matter how bad things seem, life goes on. Give things time. Realize that EVERYONE is important and has something to offer. Learn to read people. Know when to leave them alone, and when to push them further. Dig deeper. Recognize the person behind the homeless. Believe in religion and learn from it’s spiritual side. Watch old people. Talk to them. They are usually the most interesting people to talk to. Look at their hands and faces. They are a picture of time. It astounds me the "being" in human beings. Have regrets, but own your decisions. Be strong, be weak. Tell the truth. Honesty always feels better no matter the consequences. Be stupid. Make people laugh. Try not to gossip. Believe in yourself and what you have to offer the world. Dream.
"Confidence is the sexiest thing a person can have. It's much sexier than any body part." -Amy Mullins (So true!) The greatest pleasure in life is doing or accomplishing something in which people say or believe you cannot do.
Attitude is more important than the past, than facts, education, money, circumstances, failure or success. It can make or break a family, a home, relationships. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past, we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is focus on our attitude. Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. And so it is with you, we are in charge of our attitudes.
Inspire yourself. Pick up a rock and hear it speak...The world will turn eagerly towards you to hear your inspiring words and songs, see your paintings and drawings, touch your sculptures, drink your films, and embrace all your inspiration. Let your inspiration feed others and give them the juice to grow, and to glow.
