Bloodstock Day 1

We arrived at Bloodstock Open Air slightly later than expected having been stopped at the entrance to Catton Hall to allow ambulance access.
The metallers were out in force, despite the weather looking a bit dodgy all day (who cares about the weather eh ... it's METAL!).
After sorting passes and checking out the general layout I caught the great set from Finnish band Kiaus.

Bloodstockers were more than eager to hear about Trig and of course pose for shots, before I legged it to the pit for Reading (UK) based band Head On, leaving my colleagues holding my dinner, with the words "Oh crap I was supposed to shoot these guys" (which is a bit of a trademark phrase when I'm shooting)

Next up were Firewind, who were also awesome but caused us all some head scratching as Henning Basse was fronting for them with shorter hair than we're used to, so as we finally clicked to who it was you could probably hear the collective penny drop from wherever you are!

As it got later and darker I discovered some flash problems with the camera (oh deep joy) but didn't let that hamper getting shots of the clammering front row fans who wanted their pictures taken and to chat to me (yeah I'm a bit well known at Bloodstock so they all got TRRRRRRIGGED.)  Editor of Powerplay magazine, Mark Hoaksey was in the pit with me and snapped me handing out the cards while we waited for the mighty Testament to take to the stage.

Testament delighted their fans as last band of the day with a great set.

It's a short round up of a successful first day at Bloodstock Open Air, as Festival Central (aka my house is buzzing with the preparations for another day of metal while the sun is shining (FOR NOW!)
