Friday morning started with the sound of rain hitting our tent, falling back to sleep, and then someone blaring Helloween out from a few tents away. Blimey, I felt like it was 1988 again.
After heading over to the Press Tent to get some work done and finding that they wouldn't be open for another hour, we grabbed some breakfast. Egg roll with curry ketchup and a coffee, followed by a strudel! RAWR!
Things suddenly went a bit dark as the sky filled with black clouds. Black metal, black clouds, kinda makes sense.
After breakfast, the Press Tent finally opened, but the internet was kaputt... d'oh!
I took a trip outside into the main arena (the rain had stopped by now), and the masses were just about to be let in. Good timing.
Wacken is... kinda wacky. I mean, take the Metal Toilet, for instance: a drum kit and a guitar amp in a portable toilet, complete with two-man band who take requests. Awesome.
Once out of the main arena, I found these guys, who looked like they were settled in for a day in front of a big television.
As I was on the way back to the Press Tent after an hour or so, I bumped into the Fire guys, who were hosing down the straw on the ground. I thought this was an amusing sight to share with you.
I'm off out again, see ya.
