Here's a review a wrote a few weeks back about some local bands.

Event Date:  April 3, 2008

Venue:  Surfside 7

You expect certain thing to happen when you go to see bands at Surfside.  Broken glass, a barely functional bathroom, kick ass pizza, the smell of vomit and urine in the air, it’s part of the appeal and charm.  Even things like a skateboard falling off the wall nearly hitting Norm, cool.  A drunk girl complaining about the music being too loud, whatever.  What you don’t expect is a sound guy that either doesn’t understand or does care when there is a sound issue.  The sound dude seemed too busy texting and playing grabby ass with his girlfriend to know there were issues.  Even Krista standing outside could hear that there was a problem.  No worries the sound guy finally started to look into the problem moments before the song was over.  Way to get right on that…

Severs

Severs are a fun 3 piece rockabilly style band from Denver.  They have some good tunes and a few fun covers.  They are solid musicians and a lot fun.  Severs have a few shows coming up in the next month or so.  If punky rockabilly is your thing then check them out.

Double or Something

Double or Something is Slongmont’s best puck rock band that I know of….  They are the remnant of The Susceptible.  Think The Susceptible with a lot less facial hair and you got it.  These guys are a lot fun, know how to rock and entertain all twelve people in the audience which includes: their women, other band and their women and the bar staff.  I would recommend seeing them in the near future before for one or more of the members are completely disabled in an industrial accident and the band breaks up.  Sometimes the scene in FoCo can be lame.  Oh, and I got a free CD with three songs, score!
