Biomedical Design Coach

med+Design by Trig is looking for experienced and motivated Biomedical Design Coaches to join our team. Our mission is to empower aspiring physician entrepreneurs to create innovative medical devices and meaningful digital health solutions that improve patient care.

As a Biomedical Design Coach, you will play a critical role in guiding our physician students through the med+Design curriculum. You will be responsible for coaching the development of user needs, facilitating design thinking workshops, and providing feedback and support to students as they develop their ideas and prototypes. 

We are seeking mid- to late-career professionals with deep expertise in design strategy, user research, medical devices, and/or clinical care innovation. You should have a passion for teaching and a strong desire to help others succeed.

Biomedical Design Coaches must have completed or shadowed the med+Design Empathy course in order to be eligible to lead the Empathy course. The role is flexible, remote, with the option to be part-time or full-time with a minimum of 2-3 hours per week per physician team being coached. 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate user needs definition and prioritization workshops
  • Facilitate design thinking workshops
  • Provide feedback and support to students as they develop their ideas and prototypes
  • Mentor students and guide them through the med+Design curriculum
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in medical devices and digital health

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in design, engineering, or a related field
  • Mid- to late-career professional with at least 5-10 years of experience in design strategy, user research, medical devices, or clinical care innovation
  • Strong understanding of design thinking and human-centered design principles
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for teaching and helping others succeed
